I have been having issues that I thought may have been either server settings or config settings on my end. Come to find out my cable TV is screwing up too. Leads me to believe I have a bad hop locally. I will be calling the cable company today so they can tell me that everything is just fine and what I am seeing isn't actually happening. Or they'll tell me that they are aware of the problem and are working on it as we speak . I'm hoping it's the second one

You do realize that Charter cable was founded by Paul Allen a former crony of M$'s own Mr. Gates. They have similar philosophies--promise whatever you can and then deliver the bare minimum to keep from getting sued.

Charter bought the former cable company where I live. They promised that the service would not change during the current franchise contract with the city (which last about 5 more years I believe). In the 18 mos of Charter cable service:

1. We lost our local cable access channel.

2. We lost our local weather radar channel. (Our county was the first county in the nation to recieve the Storm Ready designation from the National Weather Service--partly because we had a local cable radar--doh!)

3. A major ice storm knocks out cable service for customers in the city for anywhere from 7 to 21 days. It takes charter 6 months to credit accounts for the lost days (after a prominent lawyer/politician voiced concern.)

4. Charter decides to "upgrade" to digital service in town. So a non-local contractor spends several months of scheduling/missing/rescheduling* appointments so that all customers in town could be upgraded to the digital cable boxes. The new cable boxes are pieces of excretal material and when the new digital signal to town is switched on, half the boxes cannot convert the signal because they are set-up incorrectly. Also, this new digital cable is out at least one time every week for the first year. (*Charter's guarantee of on time or we pay you $20 doesn't apply if it is a subcontract. #Fist )

5. The cable rate goes up by $10 because we now have "digital" service instead of basic service. However, we also receive 10 fewer channels than before and three of the channels are now shopping channels. We have no local access and no local radar. The local educational channel and 2 of the local networks have better signals off of RABBIT EAR ANNTENNA than the cable.

6. Currently, many of the cable boxes that were installed when the system changed over to digital are failing because they were obsolete when they were installed a year ago (our cable converter box was manufactured in 1992 and was "refurbished" for installation in our community. If you want a new cable box you have to pay something like $100. #Cussing out

We got switched to ComCast, recently. Except for a problem where they closed all of my AT&T email accounts.. ...it has gone pretty well.
