I've gone on twice and heard complaints of people camping, and whining about the snipers both times. I'll probably be doing the same as Blown, just log off when openfire comes on. _________________

I dislike snipers as much as the next person, but I think one at least should be allowed. JMO |

Everyone in DoD knows that I would sooner lose my left hand than lose the sniper option, but I agree on some maps (almost all on TFC) being a sniper is too fun spoiling. If you can setup a sniper to take out almost all of the team as they leave the spawn area, that is one of those times. _________________

Spawn camping is lame, and still a banning offense on TV servers, as I recall. _________________

If you are going to have a map in rotation here at The Ville in which many want snipers eliminated, it should be done server side or not at all. Otherwise, what is the point of having the map in rotation?
If it's just an agreed thing then all you will ever get is whining and people leaving the server. Anyone who played Murderball when it came into rotation knows exactly what I mean.
Either take out the snipers or take out the map. Why bother trying to "talk" people into not playing sniper on Murderball or Openfire? It's a waste of energy. Just limit the sniper class to 0 or take the map out of rotation.
Trying to comprimise with pubbers on a subject like this is just asking too much IMHO. _________________ Recipient of POTM award

There are classes that are almost designed as (sniper killers)...for example....the ever unpopular PYRO. A soldier works as well...and lets not forget the best tool against the sniper...another sniper.
I'd limit the number of snipers before I take them out of a game. I don't like that class myself but I do love to kill them when their zoomed out. If a team is getting slaughtered by snipers then I guess some folks should be changing class to deal with that threat.
I didn't mention spy....but that's a good sniper killer too. Leave the snipers and stop worrying about your stats. Learn to do things like advance in packs....they can't get all of you....or can they?? _________________ I put on my robe and Wizard's hat!!! HARRRRR |

Openfire is really a small map designed for matches IMHO. I wouldn't really call it a "pub" map. Although it is widely used on many pub servers. To me, a "pub" map should be good for all classes.
As far as limiting snipers to say 1 per team, that may work. Scouts are limited on Warpath I believe and that does help even the playing field.
Whatever floats your boat! _________________ Recipient of POTM award

Well, IMHO, whoever owns the server gets to decide whether or not snipers are allowed.
I will play the map either way. _________________

OMG u guys are making to much out of this. So far I have only seen 1 person leave because they didnt like the map and it wasnt because of having snipers removed from it. Springer left because it was to hard for him to spam on it as hw he said.
As for trying to make the ville more league style just because u remove snipers from 1 map is stupid. Snipers are allowed in leagues.

Bad thing tho is respawn is like 5 feet away from where the snipers snipe from. So if u dont kill them on the first hit they just turn around and walk in the respawn door. And most people are not going to just leave that sniper alone. So now u have the sniper sniping from spawn and a pyro spamming him there. Or what ever class u are. _________________

But 2 fort has a bigger yard. And no ladder for hws and demos to use to get out of the water. So half the time the snipers on openfire wont even see the hws or demos coming from the water untill a couple mirvs are thrown at them from below. That spam also make it impossible for O to get out of there base sometimes when they spawn there because of the spam or there low on health. _________________

sorry to bump this, but i just thought i'd share the next best things to snipers on openfire. instead of sniping O as they jump out of the deck window...a demo litters the ground below your batts with pipes so when you touch the ground your dead. same with the top of the ladder and sometimes the bridge. almost as much fun lemme tell ya!
as for the original topic...dont play it enough to have an opinion either way...whats decided is decided and not my decision to make, I just play here. _________________
