Wireless Internet in NY (Free??!!)

I heard on the radio today that there is a pilot program in NY where they are offering high speed wireless access **Free**. Anybody know anything about this? I could use some free high speed in northen VA.

I think it's only in public places.. like parks, cafes.. etc.

I have a wireless network at school (University of Akron) and it is nice, but you have a habit of losing you connection at random times

well it could be a couple things- some places liek starbucks and whatnot are actually setting up wireless networks for internet acess for thier customers, but there are alot more just unsecured wireless networks of companys and such- if you look around you can see some buildings with different chalk marks, sites have online maps of networks, and otehr things you can just get onto with a wireless connection... doubt thered be too much of that in VA though heh
