Just Vote on the CPU you would like to have.
And I would like to hear why also minus any price issues. _________________ P4E @ 4.00 Ghz, LeadTech 6800GT 420mhz/1.16Ghz, 1 gb Corsair PC 4400, Creative X-fi, Raptor

Although I am a fan of AMD when building PC's (mostly due to cost) I am also a fan of Intels due to cooling. If I am building a PC for someone who is tech savvy then we will be going AMD mostly because they want to overclock and do other stuff like that. If I am building a PC for someone who isnt all that savvy then we will go Intel for a affordable, stable, reliable system with components that they recognize and feel comfortable with.
For what its worth I currently have 3 AMD XP based PCs running and will be removing at least 1 and building a Intel based box for myself in the not too distant future.
Oh, and my laptop is Intel all the way. _________________

I just like intel more. For the most part it does not matter to me, as long as I can play NS and use Finale to write music _________________ http://www.barbertonrhps.com - The offical Website for Barberton's West Theater Rocky Horror Picture Show in Ohio

I have had both and for reasons already mentioned by JD I prefer the Intel. I have no need for overclocking so I want reliability. I had issues with the AMD constantly overheating. I have never had that issue with Intel. _________________

AMD was definitely the best around the Athlon XP 1500-2100 region, compared to similarly priced Intel P4s. But since then, Intel appears to have taken the lead again. |

I voted for AMD because they are very good chips minus their ability to scramble eggs because of their severe heat problems. If having a large fan isn't a problem (or an wc system) then I would say go for it...they let you play with them a little bit more than Intel. However, if you are looking for a quiet stable machine intel is certainly making a strong play in the consumer market. _________________ The most hated.

I've always built AMD machines in the past. However, the new one I am putting together has a P4 in it. My main reasons for making the switch is cooling. I used to buy AMD because of the price, but now the prices are close so I went with the one was easier to cool. _________________

Same for me, I like intel. The main reason is the cooling and the easy ability to overclock p4's.
And for some reason I always have good luck with Intel processors. Always had great stability with them. _________________

I have both AMD and Intel systems. I have a P4 in my main system. P4's do run cooler...but I have never had overheating problems with AMD. BTW the newer AMD chips based on the Thoroughbred core (A and B) run MUCH cooler. My Tbred1700xp stock voltage is 1.5. At stock speed this chip runs @ 33c _________________

I voted AMD. I have had both, and my current PC is an Athlon 2000+. It does run warm, but I have a good sized fan and it works very well. No problems with the machine at all.
Also, I live in Austin, so I had to go with the hometown company. _________________ Been chasing since May 2001!
