I know, I know- even more unlikely a dictator than George W. Bush, no? Well, in all sense, he's the unquestioned singular leader of a theocratic state (Albeit the smallest state in the world) with a devoted following, pathological militant elements, and a name-based descendancy system without any true legal recourse. You issue tight controls and demands of your followers, and you threaten them with things much worse than death should they not comply. You are so paranoid about your own personal security that you will not appear in open, public spaces without a complement of overt security guards and a specially-designed conveyance, resistant to all forms of bullets. Moreover, your rise to power followed the shady death of your predecessor, who was attempting to unravel the link between the Vatican, the CIA, and crypto-fascist Italian Masonic lodges. Giving the man some credit, at least he apologized for the Catholic Church's non-involvement in the Holocaust. However, given the Spanish Inquisition and a history of more crimes committed in the name of God than any other theocracy, the Pope is the face of Catholicism- give the man a hand!

Brutal, man, just brutal. After leading the Khmer Rouge to power in Cambodia after the Vietnam War, you felt that your country had to be truly Communist. Everyone, out of the cities and into the killing fields! In your effort to turn Cambodia into an entirely agrarian nation, you stripped your country of vital services and sent them out to the farms. In this process, you supposedly killed two million Cambodian citizens, a full one-fourth of your population at the time. That's one hell of a fraction, mind you. Thankfully, you're dead now, but still, the term "Killing fields" sounds really, really, really scary, but psychotic FPS players love to make maps and mods of just that. It helps vent stress sometimes.

Yeah, standard dictatorship fare here. Ascending to power in a military coup, you took as your wife the lovely Eva Peron, who went around the world capturing peoples' imaginations and buying plenty of shoes. Argentina's economy suffered under your militaristic rule, but still, you were loved by all the people because you looked like Antonio Banderas and your wife had Madonna's voice. Your entire regime collapsed because of overspending, mostly on Evita's wardrobe. <Yawn>

You are Saddam Hussein!

Perhaps the one most visible dictator right now, Saddam Hussein has been trounced numerous times in his exploits. He invades Iran, he gets smacked back after eight years of vicious fighting. He invades Kuwait, a never-before-attempted coalition of Western and Arab nations comes right down and blasts you back to Baghdad. For ten years afterward, because of your rearming attempts and supposed development of nuclear and chemical-biological weapons, your people go hungry and ill under economic sanctions, and every new surface-to-air missile site you put up gets blasted by aircraft patrolling your no-fly zones. Hell, even now, you're part of the Axis of Evil, and everyone thinks you're the first to go. Fortunately, no Arab will side against you until the Palestinian thing is solved... so it looks like you're around for a while, until someone does something stupid and invades, or something smart, and just sends in an assassin...

Since your death and the appointment of your son, "Baby Doc" Duvalier, the formation of the Tontons Macoutes (Your secret police) has basically kept an ideological reign of terror down against your citizens. The United States doesn't want any more Haitian refugees seeking asylum, so they basically send them all back to you. Sure, they could try crossing the mountains on the island of Hispaniola to the Dominican Republic, but they're treacherous to travel by. All in all, you're like Henri Christophe, the first king and ruler of Haiti as a black republic- brutal, but hey, you were the first big one. Just be careful that you're not haunted in some voodoo afterlife, because that's all over Haiti, along with the booming baseball-making industry.

You are Fidel Castro. It takes a certain breed of evil to lead the largest nation in the Caribbean, with one hell of a violent history. You apparently have what it takes! You stood up for your cause, got ejected from the country, and returned to kick some ass with Che Guevara. You did a decent job the first couple of years, save for a nasty missile crisis, but hey, everyone appreciated the land reform and 100% literacy rate. Unfortunately, now that your principal ideological and financial supporter has tanked and can't afford to pay rent for military bases on your country's soil, you're in a heap of trouble. Taking a cue from China, you've set up "special economic zones" where use of the American dollar is quietly overlooked. Your speeches, while impassioned, drag on for a bit too long. Hell, just give everyone a damned good cigar to pass the time, and they'll be happy. You're pretty damn untouchable! Your reign was short-lived, but quite distinctive and troublesome for the Allies in World War II. You basically took away power from the ineffective Italian leadership and instituted a fascist dictatorship, allowing nothing and allying with Hitler. Your brutal regime really made Italy look bad during the war, and even though you were a formal member of the Axis, you didn't last too long. You were eventually strung up by your people, which was a decent move. The pasta has tasted better ever since.

Surprised to find the President as a dictator? Well, he's got one hell of a track record! George W. Bush has:

1) Utilized his network of contacts to defraud and win an election

2) Taken money from public social support funding to reward his allies

3) Engaged in a campaign of ethnic cleansing (Requiring universities to turn over identities of Arabic exchange students in the United States after September 11th, awarded federal funds to only the Big Three religions (Christianity, Judaism, Islam) as governor of Texas, thus preventing religious freedom.

You get the idea... As Dictator of the United States, you have engaged in vicious capitalist behavior including a new tide of imperialism, taking over Afghanistan to make it a Western vassal state, and now your sights are set on Iraq, you dirty boy!
