Nice post cstone.
Anyone notice the vid card in all 3 systems listed?
Get the geforce2 at least. They rock. My wife has one in her system and won't let me have it. =( She rarely plays CS anymore but won't give it up. Damn women! And YES, she does tell me I told you so all the time. I knew better than buying that new ATI. I love the ATI except when a patch comes out.
Get the geforce2 ultra if your budget can handle it. They are reasonable now. =)

I recommend getting several fans if you get an AMD chip. My roomate has one and his comp puts out enough heat to raise the temp in his room 20-30 degrees Farenheit. Also, like everyone else has said, get at least a Gforce 2. The new ATI All In Wonder is good, but like other people have said, it has several driver compatibility issues. (check out the Tech TV review of it at http://www.techtv.com) They were pretty unbiased in their review. Having one myself, I recommend a P4, It's a good chip, and I haven't had any problems with it. If you can, get a combo drive(DVD/CD-RW), to save space. As far as sound cards, I recommmend the Sound Blaster line. Most are fairly inexpensive, and have a digital output.

Yeah, I got me a Soundblaster Audigy Gamer for x-mas. WOW!! It supports spdif digital sound from your cd/dvd drives and dolby 5.1. It also has a firewire port for those of you like myself who are living in the stone age.

I've been thinking of upgrading my video card, too. I was drooling over those new 64MB GeForce3 Ti500 cards. But lately, I've been intrigued by the ATI Radeon 8500DV. I would like a TV tuner and some video editing ability and that card has it all with still great gaming frame rate performance (albeit not as good as the Ti500 cards).
Now hearing about those compatibility issues, I'll have to look into it a little more.

Easy decision
Radeon = Suxor
Nvidia = Graphic standard
I've owned both and the nvidia cards are as plug and play as they get. Never had a prob. cant say the same for those damn ATI cards...
Voodoo sux too...

I don't know, it doesn't seem quite that easy for me. The Tom's hardware site has a review of both the Ti500 cards and the 8500DV and they take nVidia to task for never having implemented decent TVin and TVout. And 8500 does very well on the benchmarking comparisons only getting beaten by the best Ti500s. But, gotta get a new hard drive first anyway. Running out of space big time
