Okay, Ive noticed a few of these have ben occuring lately. I would be posting this in the TVL Forum but I figure that more views would be seen here.... Anyways, I was wondering what the villiuns classify spawn spamming, or camping as.
I will draw a rough image out below of what I think spawn camping is...
-----------
| Spawn |
----__(1)-
* 2.
1. Spawn door
2. Person waiting outside spawn (position can change, depending on where the person is)
Is this camping? I know that if there are more then one class, ie - sniper, etc etc then it might be kinda hard for this camper to tell the differnece between one sniper and another at a glance... I believe that its spawn camping if they shoot/kill players coming out of spawn even if there is only one person in there. I could easily need health or ammo and run in there to get it mean while this player could have seen/spotted them and "chased" them into spawn... Well, what is it? Spawn camping? "agressivly staying outside spawn"? Something else all together?
Spawn spam, okay personally I think that if a grenade goes off outside spawn and the player intentionally threw it there then its spawn spam... However, what classifies spawn spam?
Okay, I hope that this will help clear me and fellow villiuns minds about what these problems are that plague theville at points.
Thanks,

My interpretation has always been that if the camper-in-question is exploiting a certain helplessness that newly spawned players encounter, it's illegal. If they're just waiting outside for a fight, it's not so shameful. It would all depend on the situation.
For example, if a demoman piped spawn doors and hid from any line of fire from spawn, he would be a spawn camper.
In another instance, a spy runs into spawn and knifes incapable spawning players. That is definitley declared spawn camping.
Now say a soldier waits outside spawn doors to fight the incoming traffic. I would cess to cry about spawn camping. Once the door opens, the players are on equal ground. While the soldier may have the element of surprise, nothing voids the spawners capabilities to fight back.
As for spawn spamming, I don't really have an opinion on it. I think it's lame at times, but I don't get that upset with it. As long as it's kept within reason and doesn't kill people immediately from spawn, I think it's admissable. _________________

I agree with what Chen said, but I want to add that standing outside like that and shooting not at players coming out, but at people running around inside is considered spawnn camping, and if you're a sniper then people tend to be a little more strict with enforcing spawn camping rules, because if you snipe a guy coming out of the spawn then he's probably never even seen you. |

Hey, I've felt like there have been some people pushing this issue also lately. I think it's fine is someone wants to "fight" outside of spawn, but you have to give people a chance to at least step through the doors. (hiding past the side of the door as a solly and then juggling a helpless person w/ RPG's would be lame in my opinion as they really never had a chance to get away, nor see you before you started firing.)
Also, particularly in acrop2, I've seen the snipers creeping up into their enemies (your) battlement/nest area... they then proceed to peer through down and shoot people which is fine, but it's lame when they shoot you a step out of respawn.
I would just like to also add that it's aggravating but sometimes nades at spawn doors are necessary. If your team builds an SG near the door, or like in warpath where there is that health pack at 3 that some people will fight and grab it and fight and grab it, etc. Then sometimes it is necessary to nade that place (assuming your actually fighting someone) |

I agree with what the others have said above....but i want to add one point. if a sniper or solly is in their own spawn shooting out at people, those people have every right to shoot into the spawn at the attacker. i have seen people in acropolis2 stand in the door to the spawn, fire a volley of rockets at incoming NME's, then run back to hide. then if the NME waits outside and attacks when the person comes out, they start whining about spawn camping. to me, that is 100% NOT spawn camping. using your spawn as a platform to attack from and assuming you are immune while doing this is absurd. _________________
