oh jesus kilaak's posts are so damn funny to me. anyhow...i guess it kind of boils down to promotion of team play versus granting points to "skilled" killing. i would most definitely say that it takes a lot of skill to snipe, but at the same time you will have snipers who are afraid to get close to the front lines cuz they might die aka sword, which is really why the skill was changed.
also, i think now the playing field is more level for offensive and defensive classes in the skill ratings and maybe we ought to try going back to the old skill levels with .75 for snipers and engies kills for a week. what the hell its not it will hurt anyone. oh well just my opinion

How bout for a day, without notice, caltrops will be raised to 500 points for 2 hours. Then change it back to normal. That'd be funny.

LOL, make caltrops like just 50 and watch the scouts running around the ville. Nothing funnier than watching someone try to get the caltrop kill for the every weapon club. Most people die at least 20 or 30 times trying for the ever elusive caltrop  |

| The AC, sniper rifle, and sentry gun are always the top 3 weapon kills at the end of the week by far despite the limits to 2 for them on each team (3 for engy on most servers). This despite the fact that these 3 classes draw the most newbies. The modifiers for them are good right now at .5. |

Bronx Please shut up, of course this is for my bennifit why else would i post it any way if i really want ill just play spy and cap, i would also loke to metion that i perfer to camp at point 3 behind the sandbags, and if i really want to test my skill ill just sit in the tower either way people die when i snipe except that damned ghost fighter lol
honestly i dont see why you care at all, you dont seem to be the stat head type. |

For the record... (is there a record?) I like the stats the way they are and I am not going to do a multi-tiered statistical analysis to figure out a different and supposedly better way. I think there will always be a way to make the system work to your advantage no matter what the stat points are.
But if one weapon is going to be goosed periodically for laughs, then I say it should be a mystery weapon. Like the daily double in Jeopardy. A new sprite in the weapon list with a multiplier of an existing weapon that gives extra points. That way it will be hard to figure out which one is doing it and people will be scrambling around trying things... chaos and mayhem.
Of course, the stat heads will hate this and we will get a master's thesis on why its not skillful that TYO got POTW this week when Flame kills got multiplied by 2 all Friday, since he always plays Pyro anyway, and there is a Kilaak conspiracy... Yadda yadda yadda. Sigh.
But I do really like the stats as a way to set goals for myself to make the gameplay from day to day more interesting. Goals like joining the 36 weapons club, or getting the top players on your kill list are great fun and you don't have to be some perfect sniper or HW bunny hopper to achieve them.

spanish, I have a question for you. How the hell do you snipe like that at the sandbags? Maybe i'm going blind, or maybe I have to turn the brightness settings up but when I snipe at the sandbags I can barely see the snipers who are sniping behind the balcony!

You know, sniping from, or too the sandbags fo rthat matter, was hard for em too, when I had a shitty old monitor. But with my 19" Flatscreen, I can see those bastards perfectly

Hey all, Just a few thoughts. While I don't play for stats, (which is painfully obvious from my weekly scores) I think that medpack kills should be worth at least 2, and infections worth a whole point or 1.5. Have you any idea how hard it is to get these? Other than n00bs, no one really dies from the infection unless they aren't paying attention. More often than not, the player will kill themselves before they'll let some 'dopey' medic get a kill. The medic has speed on his side, and the conc in some maps, an upgraded skill modifier for the super shotty would be pretty cool though.
As far as points for caps, on Avanti, CP1 should be 5, CP 2- 10, CP 3 20 and CP 4- 15. This being due to the normally difficult nature of capping on 3. Once 3 is capped, 4 is almost always soon to follow. There have been games where the attacking team never gets to 3 for the entire time on the map.

i agree that cap points should be lower . i have seen poeple grab the flag and just hang around waiting for a clear path while everyone else is fighting and dying . then this moron gets all the points for doing basically nothing . As far as more points for sniper kills ??? NAH
