Well, then it would be in best interest to give everyone ALL of the information that they would need to make good opinions. Otherwise they will form faulty opinions. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |

What data was presented to you? How do you know he wasn't lying? How do you know I wasn't lying? Were you there when he was accused of cheating? Did you spec him at anytime?
Do you understand what I mean now?
I'm not saying you can't form an opinion but unless you were somehow involved in that incident you really had no basis for posting your "opinion" in that thread because it is your "personal" opinion not based on any facts or relationship to the incident otherwise you are just adding to the confusion and frustration that is already there.

1. I understand Tor has some legitmate concerns of what is going on. I know there is a segment of the populous that doesn't necessarily trust the admins.
2. I can't comment on Ktulu and ACR since I don't play DoD and was not there. I know people can formulate (and have the right) their own opinions. Ktulu made the call. The admins went over the situation in the forum and agreed with him. In future bannings I know that we will do our best have a demo and go over it with other admins. No, us admins are not perfect and never claimed to be. Only FragFailure is el perfecto (please note sarcasm if you didn't detect it.)
3. I can comment on Phish. This is what happened with Phish for a refresher. I was there...
I was on CZ2 with Rata. Phish and a few others were using the cl_pitchdown and even saying it. After some yapping back over the use of that and the refusal to even teams. I kicked Phish myself. He came back so on and so forth. I chatted with Rata in the admin chat and ok'ed him pulling the plug on Phish. The fact was that I remember that day. Uneven teams, trash talking, braggin about the use of the pitchdown after being told to stop. You guys were lucky we didn't ban more people.
A few other people who now are my current clanmates in njk were also there that day. The fact was that more than Phish and SoDum could've easily been banned that day on CZ2. I don't feel there was a conspiracy against Phish because he was greatly skilled. I feel a lot of people were jerks that day and deserved their fate. I read the old posts over it too.

I think Lin was the only person really using the cl_pitchdown. I might've used it a couple of times just to make sure that it was indeed flagging the rjump script and not something else.
Oh, and I really didn't make posts here to be a drama queen. This is indeed an online game and it really doesn't matter. Merely because my name is torak and in the past I have raised a bit of hell you cannot take my posts as suggestions instead of personal attacks. I understand this, but it doesn't change how my posts were meant.
I actually like the new ticket system for handling complaints as it gives admins and the player a more direct connexion and they can speak openly for the public isn't allowed to judge them. However, there is also the slight problem of some distrust between admins and players - that is the only downside that I could see to the system. Just something to be careful about, not to get offended and start a "flame" war.
Similary, when I suggested to Danno (in the private complaint department) that it would be best if he didn't alias I did so to help improve the ville's system of complaint handling. Instead, I get yelled at in the public discussion board. Again, I think it is primarily because of who I am that you responded with such hostility.
I would like the Ville to become great again, because even if I can no longer enjoy it I have a certain place in my heart for where I "grew up" at. Maybe I am too negitive, but rarely when I have something positive to say am I motivated to hit the reply button. _________________ The most hated.

The new complaint situation does have good potential to work, although as previously said, a lot of people will have a lot of trust issues to deal with.
So long as bigger complaints' resolution, which I'm certain will have been dealt with honestly and without any abusive spite, are posted publicly by the admins dealing with it, then there will be no need for any flame war to develop. It will end up happening once in a while, seeing as there will always be the occasional dodgy decision, which can just as easily be made by genuine mistake, but hopefully the lasting spite that has been present around here will gradually fade away.
I agree with Torak, that people like himself are seeing their honest and somewhat helpful comments become not only disregarded, but also attacked, simply because of past events in the past, which may or may not have been their own fault. And to post a pointless flame telling Torak good riddance is, to say the least, rather farcical, given that the folk at the top of the tree are trying to take steps to turn back the clock and make The Ville the lovely place we once knew.
I'm pretty sure that, although people are giving a troublesome impression of themselves, they continue to return here because it was indeed the place where they "grew up", and just need put back on the right track when they stray off into the bad world. Which is why I believe that previous troublemakers, who have since decided to grow up and stop behaving like bints, should be welcomed back to here and given the chance to build up this place again. Of course, there will be one or two ungrateful people who can say only "finally", but for the most part, I think people would appreciate such a gesture.
And GJ Frag on spilling the beans about the cz2 incident. It's good that you lead by example and post your honest comments on why you make such decisions, and I hope you continue to lead by example in this manner.
------------
Long story short - New system is good when used properly by both players and admins; take an opinion for what it's worth, even if it's from your sworn enemy; gj admins on trying to improve The Ville; give born-agains another chance; keep things out in the open by being honest.
And go to the pub on Friday night and get hammered. |

I like the new system. I think it will take some presuse off of the admin which in turn will make it easier for them and the offender to work things out. |

FYI: This is to help everyone, not just the admins.
I think this is a great thing.
Villuns no longer have to fear retribution or reprisal from other Villuns over a complaint they have made. I think, if anything people will be more likely to speak their voice in a private complaint department.
I could be wrong. But I do think it's a great idea and only time will tell if it works.
Quote: | Where would this place be if no one questioned governments?- borg |
I'm not trying to pick on your borg so this is in general to anyone. .
Government/Politics = Life
TheVille/TFC/Admin decisions = Video Game
Any questions? We are not a government. We are not a communist regime. We fall under no one's rules but the rules currently in place here. The last thing I want to hear here is poltical views or agendas. I come here for a video game, not to be constantly bombarded with anyone's ideology of political correctness.
The sooner you make the distinction between government/politics and some guys video game website, the sooner you will see how it truly has no bearing on the decisions made here. Each case has suttle differences and no two outcomes will be the same in most cases. Wether you choose to accept that or not is up to you. There are enough admins to make intelligent decisions with a majority vote. The random Villun voice is just not needed in times of banning (exception being - if a Villun was witness to an incident).
On the same note, ask yourself this. .
In the past couple months, would you say you found yourself constantly defending TheVille or constantly having issues with TheVille?
If you can answer that question, you'll have a good idea of whether this place is where you want to be.
I'm not telling anyone to pack up and leave. I'm just saying, the days of roasting admins over the coals for their decisions is over (I hope). There are enough admins to make intelligent decisions. That's what they are there for. They are all hand picked to carry out and make decisions that may or may not effect you. If you constantly disagree with the admins, maybe you should strive to become an admin or look at other places. It's easy to come down on people for their decisions. It's another thing to actually have to make the decisions.
We need unity and trust here. We can't have that unless the past is allowed to be just that. . the past. Opinions are always welcome! If you have an idea that may help TheVille, try posting it in the City Council Meeting hall forum. Ideas are better received when they are not in direct retaliation to an admin decision.
I could be totally wrong. _________________ Recipient of POTM award

We used to use Remedy where I work. It was always a decent system, and seemed to work well. Now, we use Service Center by Peregrine. It is a little fancier, but I know it isn't as well-liked by my fellow techs.
Now, to be back on topic, I think this new system for complaints will work very well. Of course, it is just my own opinion. _________________ Been chasing since May 2001!
