Do not get a celeron under any circumstances! In september AMD should have released its Athlon64's, and that will push down the price of Barton core athlon xps. I would have to recommend getting a barton/nforce2 (non-integrated graphics version). But hey, I cant know what will be out by september so Im just going by roadmaps (and those can change). |

I buy nearly all my components from Newegg, they're not
bad, not bad at all. _________________

puting a computer together is actually pretty easy. Most everything is labeled and its just a matter of putting it in place. for parts there are lots of good sites to use, one that i havent seen posted yet is www.tigerdirect.com |

Heh, I'm planning on building my own comp too...except starting in June prolly so it's ready for the next school year...thanks for giving me a headstart on the kind of stuff I need to do, and the sites to visit =)
Hope that if I post my list here you guys wouldn't mind giving me some input on it too.
One thing I could use some advice on is video cards...geforce or radeon, which should I be looking at right now? _________________ Speak with Dead |

Int, I just went out and got a Radeon 9k pro 128mb not too long ago.
Its a great card, and pretty cheap now that the 9700 is out. Some people are die hard Gforce fans though, and I have to admit they are pretty sweet.
Anyway, my recommendation is Radeon..... _________________

Good list blown65. I've used many of those sites listed. All are good spots for information. I have build/rebuilt a dozen or so using their articiles as a reference. _________________ Your suffering will be legendary, even in hell.

I have a Radeon VIVo 64ddr and its been a great card. Of course the drivers sucked at the beginning cause ATI sucked as far as driver support early on. Now they seem to have thier act together and doing much better. Personally I'm waiting for the 9900 Pro to come out late spring. |
