I've seen this before, and what I think happens is that you can create a link to any GeoCities page, and even use it for a day or two, but they are tracking usage, and when they find the link, they close it.
I'm sure, for a fee, they'll let you keep the link active, but because they are a low-cost or free service, they're not going to give ay features away, if they can help it.
