I spend a week in Montreal this year. Avenger is right about every thing about that place. The signs were so bad.
HOW BAD WERE THEY?.......
They were so bad I didn't even know they had english on them. I just took my rental car from the airport to the hotel and had someone from there that worked for my company drive me around.
When it was time to fly out i took the rental car back to the airport and got on a plane hoping NEVER to see that city again.
BUT the BEER was GOOD> |

Did someone mention beer??? Good beer at that..
It's no wonder why the spelling is so bad in our country. People like us who get every topic of subject, and on to the subject of beer. Mostly Tim Horton's.
So if it Tim Horton's that distracts us from our original objective then what does that mean. It's the canadian's fault for us getting off topic, and for our bad spelling. Wait what am i saying.....
Maybe the beer is just the reason that we cannot spell correctly. Hmmmmmm Think I'll go throw back a couple cold ones right now. |

We may be 50th or whatever in literacy but you have to remember how diverse our country is. I know in Texas there are a LOT of immagrants and they probably don't know English very well. My family has a history of teachers and the schools are constantly enrolling kids from foreign countries. Texas is right by Mexico and people cross over all the time. After most text or helpful announcents another voice comes on and repeats it in spanish or there is spanish subscript beneath the text. I don't know if this is unique but it proves the diversity of the country which plays a role in literacy levels.

Canada is quite diverse we have incredibly lax immigration laws. Toronto alone has over 100 different cultures in it, and Toronto only has a measly population of about 3 million

You know what I think it is. I think its this damn computer lingo. I'm fairly good at grammar, and spelling, but every now and then, Ill catch myself writing down "u" instead of "you", and "4" instead of "for", etc. Oh, and even on the computer, Im so damn used to typing "y" before I type anything (thanks to TF), and I find myself typing "y" a lot when Im working offline or something. Dammit TF, y do u have to b so addictive. No, Im at it again!!!!
