I am pretty clueless about alot of this stuff and am also thinking about building a system. If you haven't already checked it out, JD turned me on to Tom's Hardware a while back. They're great for getting explanations and reviews of things. A little while back they did a step by step for building your own system and have articles on building for stability. Also they have a forum for questions.

I have been considering an nForce board as well, but I keep seeing posts about people having problems with them. It might be a normal amount for any board, but it scares me a little. I like the sound of all the features but I need something WAAY noob friendly.

Good luck Twisted!

Good techie sites:

Ars Technica (The forums are huge, and they have them seperated out... I suggest you check "CPU & Motherboard Technologia"... Someone there has any motherboard you're looking at, and there will probably be a bit of discussion about it there. (I'm in their forums as BitterBeerFace... who woulda' thunk it?)
Anandtech They do "roundups" of half a dozen or more similar boards, pretty often.
Tom's Hardware Ditto what I said about Anandtech

I just read this interesting article about bad capacitors. It sounds like it won't be a problem for any of us planning to buy new stuff, but it could explain why folks had trouble with boards in the last couple of years.

Oooh, Anandtech just did a review of a SiS 655 based mobo... that looks to be about everything I'd like in a motherboard, and cheaper than the intel E7205 based boards, to boot!
