I'm sure we've all heard of Murphy's laws of combat. If you don't know what those are, search with Google or follow this link:

http://www.the-wild-hunt.org/murphy.html

A while ago, I tried coming up with some Murphy-style laws for TFC. I tried to retian the spirit of Murphy's cynical attitude, applying it to Team Fortress. Take a look at these and tell me what you think.

Also, don't be afraid to come up with Murphy TFC laws of your own. If you want, you can even come up with ones for other HL mods, like NS and DoD.

Anyway, here are mine:

"Murphy's laws of TFC"

#1. There is always someone who plays better than you.

#2. There are probably a lot of people who play better than you.

#3. The most difficult person to snipe is another sniper.

#4. A spy can't always be disguised.

#5. A HWguy can't catch up to anyone running ahead of him.

#6. A Sentry Gun is vulnerable to destruction no matter where it is
placed. And the person who destroys it dosen't have to take
damage to destroy it.

#7. The best way to beat someone who is repeatedly killing you is to
change your class.

#8. The enemy team ultimately has access to all the same weapons and
techniques that your team does.

#9. There is always a custom map you don't yet have.

#10. A player's power is dependent on thier skill.

#11. A team that is spending all it's resorces to suppres an enemy team
of equal numbers has no defense.

#13. A team that is spending all it's power on defense, and thus being
supressed, has no offense.

#14. A person who joins a server and plays whatever class he feels like
instead of a class that the team needs contributes to a poorly
balanced team.

#15. There are more people who play TFC with thier own score in mind
than those who play for the greater victory of thier team.

#16. The greatest joy of TFC is finding a server where everyone else
is a worse player than you.

#17. Do not meddle in the affairs of admins, for they are subtle and
quick to kick.

#18. If you don't like the server you're on, there's always another
server to play on.

#19. Team Fortress Classic is a game, not real warfare. It IS unfair to
have suppirior numbers, and no one's greater political interest is
being served by capping a flag.

There you go guys. Have at it.

99. And if you post something, your brother will see it, (even if he's at
work) and he WILL harass you about it.

1. If you want to know where the enemy team is, look for your team's sniper.

2. A demoman's pipes can be both his best and worst friend.

3. If you think you've found a good hiding spot, chances are somebody aleady knows your there.

4. SPAM is the best defense.

5. To be a good sniper, you need not accuracy, but knowledge of where to hide.

6. Someone who thinks they are ub3r-1337 makes the most mistakes.

7. Always snipe with another sniper. It gives the other team something to shoot at besides you.

8. The best grenade dodgers have grenade models that are really bright.

9. Classes with heavier weapons get killed the most.

AHhh...thats all. I'll ad more if i can think of any

Those are all pretty good, but none of them quite match Murphy's level of cynicysim. Here's mine.

#1- Never reload, because an enemy will see you doing it.

#2- The better your score, the better target you are.

#3- If you're doing the best, you're probably in a server full of bots.

Here are some of the respones I had to the proposed laws. Remember these are in jest.

3.) The most difficult person to snipe is a HW. Their hit-range seems to be disproportional to their body model..
5.) I've never really measured this, but I think a bhopping HW can match or pass a running medic.
14.) A skilled player helps out a team no matter what class. When he plays the class needed, the opponents cry STACKED TEAMS.
16.) When you find a server where everyone is of lesser skill, you get banned for cheating.

The ultimate compliment to a sniper is to have everyone on the nme team coming after them.
