Well, after a few months of on again, off again practice I have finally learned to bunnyhop..

As a soldier I was able to beat an end to end, Warpath, no bunny hop run (no capping) by 17 seconds.

I just wanted to share my joy, because it took me a long time!

Now I can run out to get sniped by Darkath THAT much faster..
Or catch Borgs EMP..
Or get generally pwned by BRN..

You get the picture.

Mike

You can't catch emps, they explode away from you, yet you are still dead even if you are away from them.

Warpath really doesn't matter all that much about bunny hop unless the other team is super slow / all heavy classes. The most important thing about warpath is to be very good at hitting very long concusions. When I play with VP or Veil on warpath I tend to go for 2 (the closest point) and then go straight for 5. They usually get 3 and will most of the time get 4 - by which time I've conced over everyones head and have an easy conc to the cap. Bunnyhopping maybe 4 times once I reach enemy terrority. If you can hit those concs the hopping doesn't matter so much.

I was only practicing bhop on warpath because it has the longest continuous path of all my maps, giving me plenty of time to practice.

I'm still not sure I'm doing it quite right. I use Sparky's tools to give me a speedometer and I am definitely moving at 115% to 140% of normal speed, but when I time myself from point to point versus a straight run I'm not always faster. I think I'm deviating too much from a straight line on my jumps..

Oh well, one thing at a time.

Anyway, I'll keep trying.

Yeah, there are various hooks which include speedometers, timers, and other gadgets. Great for practicing, but they MAY be auto-disabled at the ville. I'm not sure, they do tend to slow down a server quite a bit.

Like he said, check out Sparky's. Its pretty good.

I actually don't use sparky's when I play online. Sparky's ONLY works in the Half Life directory, but I play online from the cstrike directory. Its got all my maps, sounds, configs..

I was thinking of recompiling Sparky's to run from cstrike, but I decided to just try bhopping when I play and see what happens. Only way to get better.. Practice under fire! I don't have time to check the darn speedometer when ToRaK is after me anyway.

Let me see if I can find a Sparky link real quick.

http://www.planetfortress.com/sparky/download.htm

There use that. Then type "bspeedo" in your console.
