I know this is serous but if china and k korea got involved, Homer Simpson would put it best.
"Wake up kids its world war 3!"
Side Note : Didn't the christians Mary mother of god say that there would not be a 3rd world war to someone in fatama (sp?) or something like that? _________________

They've done this before (in '93) and basically, right now, what it amounts to is a crude attempt to gain attention and leverage on the international political field, for what I do not know. |
My guess, if I may be allowed to toss out an opinion, is that they're
asserting themselves. Many, including myself, think Bush is going to take
us back into Iraq, no matter what excuse he has to drum up, and his
damn 'Axis of Evil' comment included the North Koreans.
And since that's my guess, I can hardly blame them. If I were them
wouldn't want to be the next country picked to prop-up the current
US president's political popularity.
So they're stirring up the nuclear issue. It's unsurprising, few things
have as much power sitting around un-used as nuclear weapons.
Anyone here ever looked into the general details of the physics
of the weapons, as well as the various designs, with advantages
and disadvantages of each? It's pretty interesting stuff. It's not
"just press the red button and everything turns to plasma". _________________

My 2 Cents:
They said they removing monitoring equip and started up a reactor that can produce weapons grade plutonium after the US stopped oil shipments and food.
The US the started food again but limited to no oil.
They are just plying the card you give us food to feed 75% of N Korea and enough oil so vehicles (military and civlian) can run and houses can be heated. Otherwise N Korea will go nuke power.
N Korea is simply too dependant on foreign aide and throw a tissy when the USA stops sending about a couple hundred million a year.
Talk about a backward communist state.

Man, I just lost my whole post.
Essentially, though, I just want to point out that many nuclear devices
of many designs have been detonated since Trinity (the first one),
and none of them have caused a 'Beneath the Planet of the Apes'
style fade to white and/or the end of the world.
Murder is bad, no matter what tool you use to create it. The fact that
it takes threat of global thermonuclear war ("The only way to win is
not to play" I know.) to get people into a panic is what scares me.
Conventional warfare sucks too.
Especially because you can't rocket jump. _________________

I'm sure they'll use it to get the oil consessions back, I agree with you
there. But I still think the root cause is simple fear. Put yourself in
their shoes. The USA is making threats on the first member of
Bush's 'Axis of Evil'.
You're #2 on his list. Wouldn't -you- want to make yourself seem a
little more scary, a little less worth attacking? _________________

We don't pray. |
Sorry to stray Off-Topic again, perhaps on two counts, but I couldn't help but pay attention to this line I saw in someone elses sig, in some other forum:
- I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours. |
