First thread went over 3 pages, which messes up moved threads, my post was on the 4 of 3rd page, and no one would have seen it. so here it is again:
The good news: I am currently connected through the router!
THE BAD NEWS:
ITS MAKING A REALLY GOD-AWFUL HIGH-PITCHED SQUEALING NOISE CONSTANTLY AND ITS GOING TO DRIVE ME INSANE!!!!

apparently, no one else can hear the noise. my ears are too high O_o.
does anyone else's router make this noise? is something wrong with mine? it hurts my brainnnn...

does the router have a cooling fan?
You might want to just move the router to a different room, and run the cable into where you sit. There's not much you can do about that, except maybe blow out your eardrums...? |

Call the linksys support number listed in the back of the manual. It sounds like the power supply might have a problem. As you sure it is not you DSL/cable modem?

i already emailed them. my temporary solution is to only use router when actually using second system, as rest of time, i can leave it off and bypass it. but yeah, i wrote to their support email. and yes, im sure its not the modem, cause, um, 1. it only does it when router is plugged in, and 2. its coming out of router box. someone else i asked on another board says their linksys does it as well, but they thought they were insane, cause no one else can hear it. they also said they could hear the noise of a tv on video mode, which i've always been able to hear as well, but no one has ever believed me! lol *curses his ears*

They are referring to the NORMAL human audio range. All they are saying is that you are not normal. 
Also, I don't think you are crazy. Crazy is the guy who works for me who cannot have a monitor on the desk behind him because he can feel the radiation from the monitor seeping into his head.

 Good point. I believe the normal audio range is around 12-15khz. If you are hearing it way above that then stay away from a dog whistle .
I just bought a router myself and don't have it hooked up just yet. I am anticipating problems which is why I haven't done that yet. Now if I hear a noise too then I guess the jokes on me

I guess I am lucky that I worked for 4 years 250 ft from an active USAF runway with F100s, F104s , amd F4Cs taking off and landing every minute. The Air Force said I didn't need any ear protection. RIGHT It kills your hearing.
Try going to VERY LOUD concerts or wearing headphones with the volume turned up all the way. Do this for several years and you will no longer hear the noise from your router. Of coarse you will have a ringing in your ears 24/7 for the rest of your life.

Or you could try this....
Plug the router into a wall socket by itself and see if the noise goes away.
Sometimes if you go thru a power strip or a UPS it will cause problems with full power getting into the unit. Thereby cause a high pitched "whine" from the power supply.
I had speakers that did this and a modem, but only when hooked thru a UPS or a cheap power strip.
Hope this helps. If not then turn up the MP3s alot louder
