Ok, I got all excited about watching the Two Towers, and I even had to wait till today (Saturday) to do it. I got all my hopes up, cause I heard how great it was, and was really looking forward to it. I went and saw it with my mom, who has never read the books, and I was shocked. I knew they had changed a few things in the first movie from the book, but this was ri-goddam-diculous. I mean seriously, why did they change so much????? I cannot fathom the reasons for their doing so. I mean I'm not going to give anything about the movie away to those who haven't seen it yet, but FFS. I am so bitter right now. I know what my problem is. I read the book before watching the movie!!!!!!!!! I mean, how could I?!?!?!?! What was I thinking?!?!?!??!?!?! I have foregone eternal happiness for my selfish desire to read before I watched!!!!Man, I'm an idiot. Now I have nothing to do but drown my sorrows in a large pit of liquor. Does anyone else feel the same way about the movie???? Am I being overly harsh?? I understand that sometimes things have to be done differently in movies and I understand that movies can't have as much detail as the book, but my god, they took things that lend directly to the plot line of the third book right out, added things that will have to be explained later, and destroyed the relationship between one of the main characters and his woman!!!!! Oh I'm so mad right now. I hope Tolkien isn't turning in his grave right now. CRAP!!!!!!!! Ok, enough ranting. I'm gonna give this movie #Fist #Fist #Fist #Fist out of 5. This movie now rates highest on my all time sux list. I'll see you later, at the movies.

I saw it. I didn't think it was that bad, but then again, I never read that book. I started to read 'em, but couldn't finish it. It's sorta noticeable that things were left out.
As for you reading the books first and then seeing the movie...yeah, it's pretty much given that the books are going to be better than the movie Normally, if a book I've read is made into a movie, I won't even bother to see the movie.

JMHO though.

I'm a hardcore Tolkien fan and it is definitely one of my favorite movies. For 3 hours I think they did a great interpretation. The special effects were unreal. There are a few things I would've changed in the movie, but 90% of the audience could care less if the movie deviates a little from the original storyline. Of course the books will always be better than the movie. Shoot, I had all the books read by the 6th grade. The Two Towers, in my opinion, is a 5 star movie, and I applaud the director (Peter Jackson?... can't remember) for a good job.

Yes I saw it as well and as far as I am concerned it rocked. I have read the books probably 50 times since I was a kid. The problem you have is that you are going into the movie looking to critic it based on if it does the books any justice, instead of going to see a entertaining movie. I agree the drawing out of the love story of Aragon and Arwen is gay and a little boring, but it made me relize the lack of any major female characters in the series. Unlike other fantasy greats like the current neverending Wheel of Time. So go see it again and forget what you read in the books and watch the movie for what it is and enjoy the guy's sitting next you popcorn. :usa

I will make a citation I read from Raymond Feist, a famous fantasy writer, regarding changes made in the movie, or any movies adapted from a book.

"Books and movies are located on a different end of the media spectrum. Some things work in books, which couldn't work in a movie. We, poor mortal book readers, have no idea how to make a movie work, and it is too easy to be pissed off at why some scenes are changed and complain".

I think that says it all. Forget the book, and enjoy the movie. Anyway, apart from "The Green Mile", I never saw a movie following closely a book.

I dont know why people keep saying the drastically changed the book. I have read the books about seven times (OK, i need a life) and the only major change is how they made arwen such a major character (which is lame, but i guess they needed another heroine) because in the book she is only in..maybe a chapter (and they took tom bombadil out, but no actor could be Tom Bombadil!! ). As for the two towers, they totally cut down the parts with treebeard and aragorn, gimli, and legolas weren't really following pippin and merry for as long, but other than that nothing major was changed. Besides, how can you not like the battle scenes in The Two Towers, . Sure they were differant but they had to be, and TTT is still a great movie in my opinion.

I enjoyed Two Towers and I can't wait for the last movie to come out. I think they did a really, really good job with the special effects on Gollem and the fighting scenes were admirable. It was funny, intense, sad, sexy (OMG LIV TYLER) and crazy. I mean c'mon, my friends were laughing at me at the movie because whenever I saw Liv Tyler I would take the deepest breath LoL. Dude she was wearing something quite smashing and dazzling it would probably cause you to take a breather too

I really enjoyed that scene were there were 10,000 fighting harukai's. I long crave for scenes where there is an army on one side, and another waiting for battle. Then you hear a CHARGE, or a roar and they all get pumped up and start killing each other, dude that scene was crazy and very intense. I wouldn't call that movie ridiculous, I would call that movie the best sequel I've seen and it was well worth the wait. Maybe Matrix II: reload will shine the light on your expectations but Two Towers is a box office smash. Good stuff.

Azrael the reason the book and the movie are different, is because not everyone wants to watch a 12 hour long movie.
