I can bhop in JK2 which uses the quake 3 engine but cant for the life of me do it in TFC. I actually think its useful in JK2 as you have to be close to someone to hit them with the saber, wheras in TFC you can usually kill from a distance. I also think is helpful in JK2 CTF when they grab the flag and use force speed to run away from you fast, I just bunnyhop ahead of them and kill them with the saber, Flag returned.

Yeah well, 140%-160% is about the maxium you can sustain. If you go up to 170% it resets you. So I guess the maxium is 169.999% :p
Hooks basically sit in between half-life and it's dll - if you want a better/more accurate picture of this maybe lin could help you out. A hook can do any number of things - a good many are used to cheat, but a few just add features which aren't cheating. Some things that are added are clocks (so you can see the time), match timers (so you can see how long before the game is over), etc. You can also do other neat things like have winamp controls - and you probalby could even have it display pron pics in game, but that would be distracting.
Sparkies is basically a non cheating hook. Some features include a hud recolour thingy, a bunnyhop meter, bunnyfix (for servers with this feature active), alias checker, and winamp controls. Good stuff - but I don't know where the ville stands on it. I think it's legal in STA and TFL leagues...and probably not legal in OGL (but who cares about ogl anyway).
So, where does the ville stand on this?

I know the Sparky's is ok in STA...it's actually named in their rules. I've seen sparky's installed and it does have all that stuff you mentioned. I think the winamp and the speedometer are too kool. I guess we'll have to ask Rob if TheVille approves it. Personally, If it doesn't cross that line between scripts and cheating....it's very thin btw....then I would think it's ok...
But, its not my call at all....

Well, I'm going to come out and admit I tried the sparkys hook just to see what it does. The speedo thing is all I used cause its all I was interested in. Kinda cool to see how different things you do like rocket jumping and conc jumping increase your speed. No biggy cause I'm doing a new system so it will be gone via a nice format. Would like to know from the higher up on how you feel about this add on. In normal game play its prob more of a distraction anyways because your constantly looking at your speed to see how fast your going.  |
