I think everyone knows my problems. Slow video, RAM can't be clocked to normal. I believe the my 52x cdrom drive is running at a speed of 12x. I haven't been able to test anything new as of the moment. Don't ask about things like defrag, scandisk, etc. I have tried everything I could think of. Nothing has helped. I am too lazy to post my specs again. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |

I don't think it would run faster beings half life doesn't read the cd when you play. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |

Reformat. If that doesn't work it's probably a problem with your hardware. If we could have more specs about your comp (3d card, psu, cpu, brand cd drive, hard drive etc.) we could maybe help you more. |

I still think it's the power supply. When you were playing before did you have to underclock everything then too?? If yes then that would be my best guess. Have you tried setting everything back at default?? I had problems with a previous comp and some how the settings were not right. I had tons of problems with it. I gave that comp to a friend to have and he just reset the default settings and he said it runs great. _________________

Another thing that I have noticed at times is if you have a VIA Chipset and your running old drivers ? _________________ http://www.nosmacktards.com |

I believe I am running the version 4.33, not too sure on the version number, but it was pretty recent for my chipset. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |

Just curious, but how are you setting the pc100 speed? In the BIOS or is it a jumper setting on the board?
Could it be the brand of memory you have? Some brands do better in certain motherboards. Crucial makes very good quality RAM, and I would recommend it.
Have you done any searches on the internet about your problems? There might be a forum or BBS somewhere that could help. Try searching for your motherboard even.
Let me know how it goes, and I will see if I can help out anymore. _________________ Been chasing since May 2001!

The PC100 is set by jumpers, bios doesn't have any options for ram speed. I have tried searching for stuff. Haven't found a thing. Ram isn't bad becasue it worked in another computer, and I have tried mulitple types of ram in this computer. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Guys, there is really no point in trying to help him. I mean, this exact post has come up numerous times. If you want to fix it your going to have to test the componets on a fully operational computer. Elsewise it's going to be a frusterating guess and check process. _________________ The most hated.
