Just a word to the wise do not upgrade BIOS unless absolutley neccessary. I learned this yesterday.
***true story***
There was new BIOS, EIDE MB Drivers, and AGP MB Drivers (not for video card but mother board). ANd I was experince some video stutter, which i should not have with the components I run and I had reisnalled all sound video etx drivers.
So i backed up critical stuff and Flashed "Kinky" my BIOS.
Rebooted.
Monitor would not come on. Waited. Shook the power cord and it turned on. Let go and then locked up. Then turned off. Changed powercoard. Nothing. Finally coaxed it into cmos set up after 1 hr.
It said that is could not recognize the CPU speed. Said a few cusswords and set it as it should.
Restarted nothing....let it sit. 45 mintues later it booted. Proceded to install the other to mb updates and then re flash the bios.
Restarted...and nothing again. 45 minutes later got it into cmos. Could not recognize CPU speed. Told my comp to f@#$ off. Overclocked CPU to 2.6 ghz from 2.0ghz.
Restarted and booted immediately. Thank god my cpu is set for overclocking with cooling. Deleted my video drivers and restarted.
Loaded up np and it had re tweeked my CMOS to run at non overclocked speeds.
Resinsatled video drivers and walla works.
6hrs of BS lol for 1.5 percent more stability with OS Spec New BIOS.

I guess I have been lucky. I flashed bios's on all different kinds of mobos and haven't had any problems yet (knock on wood). _________________

I am in the same boat as you are, I haven't had much of a problem flashing the bios on my computer. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |

I recently flashed my mobo, had no problems at all. Guess you were just unlucky. |
