The first thing that comes to me is just making them hidden, but there may be a new feature in whatever you are running (i only have Win98) |

Depends on what OS your using...
XP or Win2k - take away permissions on the exe
98 - Dont think u can hide a shortcut, just delete it and go right to the exe..
Or what i used to do - I created a folder on my c:\ drive and called it something pretty unobvious ie: badfiles tempfiles, and kept all of my shortcuts in there. That way if they dont know how to use explorer that good it will keep em half way hidden at least. |

You could try making a new desktop just for yourself, and putting a password on it. I did that a couple of years ago, though I'm not too sure how... _________________

You can hide stuff in 98, all you do is right click/properties/hidden |

You could make a bunch of different folders inside of folders. Kind of like a maze where you pick the right combo of the folders where you have all of you stuff in. My friend did that and it worked pretty well _________________

It's only that i don't want my little sister and brother to mess with my programs. i will be glad next september. Then i'm buying myself a new comp with everything on it and only the best. wOOT _________________ PROUD TO BE A MEMBER OF =US-V= & VILLE $UPPORTER |

The only problem with that is that he is trying to hide/lock program shortcuts on the desktop, so if he made it hidden then it essentially wouldnt even be on the desktop anymore. So I think all of you pretty much mentioned the only solution....Put all the shortcuts you dont want them to mess with into another folder with an odd name and they probably wont find them. _________________

i can always make a hidden folder. Like that they won't even see it. And they don't know how t change the settings so that they can actually see the maps. _________________ PROUD TO BE A MEMBER OF =US-V= & VILLE $UPPORTER |
