Friend Needs Some Help plz

alright my friend is havin some troub with his TFC, here is what he says..

After I clicked into Internet games, I clicked Join Game. I get as far as connecting until it says Could not obtain WON authentication. I then get kicked off and a message pops up saying: Your Team Fortress executable is out of date and so forth. It asks me to check for updates online, but I just end up with it saying that my current version is up to date. This happens on multiple servers that I try.

idk anyone got any idea??

download the patch directly from the ville and install it, that way you bypass the HL updater which in my opinion is slow and sucks to begin with. Let me know if that works
