Since I cant figure out to make polls anymore, I'm just going to ask. Which do you guys think is better gf4 4600 or rad 9700? Everyone I've talked to seems to have a geforce/radeon preference, but I've never used either.
Help me out! Both will work with my system, I just need some performance. _________________

The Radeon 9700 Pro beasts the Ge Force 4 4600, however it's a lot more expensive. Unless you have a really powerful PC (cpu mainly) then you won't be able to take advantage of the Radeon's greatness. The Radeon is 8.0x AGP, but I doubt your board supports it, so, get whichever you have the cash for. _________________ The most hated.

i think the closer comparison is the gf4 4600 to radeon 8500, radeon9700 simply rapes almsot any board out there right now... there are some oc'd gf4s you can get via online places that perform realyl well for a pretty good cost _________________ my pic host-age died!

I don't think so, not anymore right now anyway. And this time around it seems like they have the driver issues worked out.

I don't think so.
If you are looking on a budget you can get the 4600 for about 235$, whereas you'll be looking 300$+ for the 9700 pro. _________________ The most hated.

As of the moment, the ATI is the better card, but again, price is an issue. But if you have the money for the ATI, i would wait for the GeForce 5, or whatever the next card is. _________________

ATI 9700
Is a great card.
GF4 4600..
Is a nice card.
If money is an issue go with the 4600. If you want the best right now.. its the 9700 pro.
Iv'e used both also. _________________

I always try to buy second-rate stuff, mainly because its much much cheaper. Probably going with the Ge4...this whole debate has insipred me just to learn how to build the bloody cards. Then I wouldn't have to buy them anymore. _________________

If you want to read the gamespot review of the radeon 9700 go to http://gamespot.com/gshw/filters/products/0,12844,562166,00.html
The 9700 bends the geforce 4 4600 down and rapes it. It has a core clock speed of 325 mhz, whereas the 4600 has a speed of 300 mhz. I'm not sure about the US but I know in Canada the 9700 costs about 600$, and the 4600 costs about 500$.
If you get the all-in-wonder 9700 you can also get a tv-in hook up and added multimedia support.
If you already have a monster machine, get the 9700. If not you might as well get a 4600 and send the money you save to me. I accept Paypal and money orders.
Either way, you need you need to be a really rich h00r to afford either of those cards, therefore I hate you. _________________ -Thewz

For 3 years I was using an ATI Rage 128 All-in-wonder card. It worked very well with me. Of course I like my Geforce 3 much better.
Anyways getting the all-in-wonder version of the 9700 would probably cost an extra 50-100$. |

I have the same card and it is very nice. I've never had any issues with it and the graphics are great, at least for my eyes. _________________

If your going to just play TFC just get the GE 4, but if your going to do other stuff get the raedon instead. Why would you want to spend so much money for the top of the line vid card when it will be obsolete tomorrow? I have a GE 4 and it rapes my TFC every time I play _________________ I like you---that's why I'm going to kill you last.
