I brought home all of the pieces for my comp, but it is not built yet. I am gonna say what this comp is(old one) and what i got for my new comp second:
Pentium 2, 433(clocks at 399)
64mb of ram
Rage IIC AGP
Unknow Monitor (15inch)
Yamaha sound card
Really small and bad speakers
4X DVD-ROM
6X4X6 external writer
Windows 98
I don't know much about the old one mainly because it was bought already together from Best Buy.
New comp: (built and configured by me. Not built yet, but I'll be done tomorrow probably)
Processor: AMD Athlon XP 2000
Motherboard: KT3 Ultra 2
RAM: 256MB's DDR (was gonna get 512 but they were all out)
Graphic Card: GeForce 4 MX440 (64MB)
Sound Card: Creative Sound Blaster Live 5.1
Monitor: Realsync 17 inch
DVDROM: Sony 16X
Writer: LiteON 40X12X48
Case: 350watts w/ 5 fans!!
Speakers: Creative Inspire Dolby Digital 5.1 6 speaker set
OS: Windows XP
I think that's everything, it all cost around $1050. The only problem now is that i am broke. LOL. I'll be done with it tomorrow as i said, but it'll be awhile until i'll be able to go online with it.
So what do you think of my little upgrade?? _________________ <---- LinktoDeath-TPF-VS-

<------ Has the same graphics card and sound card. Your gonna love the upgrade. That should help everything run a lot smoother than it was. I would upgrade to the 512 megs RAM when you can. I'm sure that will help out a bit too. I am running 768 megs RAM and my machine never flinches. Nice job on your system. Hope to see ya in game with it soon. _________________

Nice, how much did that puppy cost? Is it better to get an amd rather than a p4? I might get my own comp soon too! I will have the specs on here a bit later .

Old comp - 9.63GB(unknown company)
New Comp - Western Digital 60GB for 60 dollars. (after rebate) included in previous price in previous post.
I also got a wireless Logitech keyboard and a corded optical Logitech Mouse. No more balls!!! LOL!!!
Potato - It really depends on how much you have to spend on a comp. P4's are at 2.8's now but are a lot more than AMD's that perform better than the next level of p4. Example: AMD 2200 runs at the same performance as a p4 2.5. About 100 dollar difference too. If you want more help you can got to a post i posted called "AMD Athlon Xp VS. Petium 4. Which is better?" Or you can search online for benchmarking of the two processors on different programs including games and image and video editing. www.cnet.com is a good place to do that. _________________ <---- LinktoDeath-TPF-VS-

Well, I have decided that I am going to get a PC for myself. I know HOW to build one Im just not too sure whats compatible. I still have to decide / find a good deal for a sound card and a videocard. I also need to know a Mainboard compatible with my processor... Im networking it so I don't need a monitor or a keyboard (if possible).
Well here she is:
Case: Aopen HX45 Mid Tower ATX 235watt (AMD Approved) $79.00
Power Supply: Antec PP253X 250 Watt ATX $59.00
Processor: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ (1667Mhz) $178.00
MotherBoard:
RAM: DDR 256 MB PC-266-OEM $116.00
CD ROM: Sony 52x CD-ROM-OEM $48.00
Hard-Drive:Seagate ST320410A 20.0GB ATA/100 7200RPM 2MB $109.00
SoundCard:
Video Card:
Total: $589
Total With PST and GST: $677.35
Well, tell me what you think please! I want to spend good money!
Thanks,

I'm buying an Alienware Aurora DDR. I used to build my own gaming boxes but I'm getting lazy in my old age. Besides you just can't be the plasma purple case/keyboard/mouse. _________________

FYI you got ripped off on your processor, i got the same thing but 60 dollars cheaper!!
Get a KT3 Ultra 2 Motherboard, Sound Blaster Live(Any kind will do), and Geforce 4 (64mb or 128mb your decision, 150 dollar difference).
Well now that i think of it, a lot of the prices you stated were really high! The CDROM is way too high and so is the hard drive. I could have gotten 512mb of ram for even less for what you stated for 256. Whats with your high prices?!?! _________________ <---- LinktoDeath-TPF-VS-
