I was wondering what the best dial-up isp is. I have been trying to get my parents to get dsl/cable but that hasn't worked, so I am going to try to convince them to get a different dial-up isp. So if you could say what you think the best dial-up isp is with a link to their site(if possible), their charge for unlimited access(if possible), and if you know, their average ping to theville servers(not necessary, but helpful).

Who are you with right now and where are you located Borg? A local ISP that is well connected would be your best bet IMHO, AOL would be the worst mistake of your life.

Currently with AOL because of my parents and my naievity 6 years ago. Been asking to get rid of it for about 3 years now(ever since I started gaming). My general region is in Oregon.

I would recommend calling around to your local phone companies as well. Shop around for the best price/connection/tech support.

Either way, you'll still be getting lapped by old ladies in walkers but at least you can stay with us!

Just dump AOL asap wharever you do.

For dialup? They may be good for dsl, but for dial-up? I thought they were as bad as AOL for dial-up.

A friend of mine has verizon for dialup and he says he almost always gets download transfers at 6kbps, which, i know from experience, is lot better than AOL.

Hope you change, but as for me, I am stuck with AOL for what will seem like eternity.

Like someone else said...almost anything is better than AOL ...that damn "you've got mail" voice alone is just creepy. Anyways, I would first suggest going to this link

http://www.epinions.com/cmsw-ISP-Topics-3

Most of the things there you probably already know, but its helpful, oh and this site is mostly based on users opinions, so its your call whether to agree with them. Also, right above the main title in bold "What should you know.." theres links to more related subjects.

One isp i've heard is decent for dial-up is SBC Yahoo! Like i said though, i've never used it...a friend from school has it though and thats who told me it was decent. You'll get similar features of Yahoo! and SBCs name in support. at the bottom of the page is a Flash Tour that tells you all about it. GL
