Okay, so today I got a new PCI soundcard and was going to try using a microphone. I plug it in (no software needed) and test it on a few recording programs. Everything works just fine. So I'm going to try using it with TFC. I go into the voice_tweak.exe nd it's a little staticy, but I can hear myself. I press okay and go into TFC. I select the things I need in the config and everything and leave the default button as K to use it. I go into my own little empty game and, the mic no work! I look in the console to see if it says anything and I see this message...
"Unable to initialize DirectSoundCapture. Trying waveIn.MMSYSTEM004 The specified device is already in use. Wait till it is free, and then try again.
Unable to initialize wave input. You won't be able to speak to other players through a microphone."
Any help would be gladly appreciated. _________________

**scratches head** Did you try to install the software for your soundcard and then try it?? Just a thought, not sure if that's it. |

Anytime I install new hardware the very first thing I do is go to the Web site of the manufacturer to get the latest drivers. Did you do that? _________________

Not the hardware, the software. What I meant to say was covered by Hoax's post. |

I went to the site and checked out their sound cards. Doesn't seem like they have any new drivers (besides those for XP, which I don't have), and if they do, then they hide them very well _________________

I had that error on my old computer too. I think it's because when a sound is playing, you can't record sounds at the same time. When I tried to run winamp and go to the 'Ville at the same time, I could only hear the winamp songs and not the Ville music. That's what I think that error is. So I don't know how you fix it. _________________

The sounds card sounds like it is not a full duplex card. Check to make sure that full duplex is on. If it is not a full duplex and only a single duplex you cannot talk and hear sound at the same time.
