Right now all I have is a router sitting in between my computer and the web. I had npf before I reformatted (version 2.5, the old school one that was hard as hell to configure, w00t ) , but I lost the instal files I might get ZA eventually, but I don't personally feel the need for it now. I know what is on my computer, I know what is loaded at start up, and I know most other things. Although my dad's computer still has npf. |

theres alot of nifty software firewalls out there but most of them miss out on one important thing... they all stop the incoming hack attempts but what about the outgoing? like says your infected with sub7 or netbus or something.. most firewalls wont even let you know out of a list of a bunch of them includeing black ice zone alarm is the only one i've found that will..

Bah, black ice never used to until it took the role from other firewalls. Me > Black ice. I'm a diehard hater of it NPF does that a lil better then ZA even. It used to give me a nice big dialog, saying what program (path and stuff), what remote address, and what remote port. |

Kerio Personal Firewall maonitors outgoing connections.
I have Norton Internet Security 2001 lying about here, but it isn't XP compatible, and I couldn't be bothered chasing after the computer shoppe. And I couldn't be bothered trying to configure ZoneAlarm so that it wouldn't annoy me during a game of TFC. So I got Kerio - not the most well known, but suits me |

I didn't notice that, but now... I hope you aren't running Kazaa while playing - that would definitely mess things up. But I trust you know better than to do that
BTW, is that a regular 'K' you have on your taskbar - if so, you may need some more security lessons |
