*is sounding like a salesperson for these people now, O_o, but anyway, it really is great*
Ok , anyway, I just found this little program, called Cacheman, and it does... l33t stuff. (I think, winXP already does this, but if you don't have it, like me...) basically, it constantly goes through what is using up ram, and cancelling anything that is not being currently used, such as residual from closed programs, and ram-eating stuff like WinMX.
I just did some testing, and I let my ram get wayy down by opening and closing programs, to only 50 mgs free, then opened this program, and hit lil button several times, and ram is back up to 300 free! (i also checked this against what windows said, to make sure it wasn't just making up numbers, and it really did go up that much).
it also has setting, so it will auto-recover ram whenver its past certain point, etc, which works better than just the lil button.
anyway, get it. it = l33t. |

Sounds good, but do you have a link for it? Or do you have to buy it? If you have to buy it, I'd prefer to spend my money on a new Man Utd t-shirt |

I tried it out..and I was able to free up 18 M of RAM. Pretty cool, except the program itself eats up about 16 M of RAM. It is a pretty cool little monitoring tool for RAM and other cache stuff though.
Nice find Goldom. _________________

CyCoDaD suggested i get one of these a while back. For people with the atrocity that is ME like me and you Gol, it couldn't hurt. I heard that every single OS other than ME, 95 (and all before it), and one other already do this with out it, though. |

I had Cacheman when I had ME too, and it did help me out some. Not as much as I was hoping for, so I went out and bought XP Pro (OEM version) later. If you want Cacheman, here is the link to it I believe:
http://www.outertech.com/
Hope that helps out some of you ME people. I know how tough that OS can be. _________________ Been chasing since May 2001!

well i use a lil program called ram booster -- it basicly does everything you said the prog your using does
it monitors the amoutnt of ram free -- it has an auto ram recover when the amount of ram falls below a certain point -- and i can set how much ram i wont it to free up when it reaches the alarm level
i can also manually free ram by clicking a lil button and setting how much it tryes to free up with a nice lil slide bar
i usually use the maual button b4 i go into TFC _________________
