I just have a quick stupid question for ya'll

This summer I have to replace the shocks and struts on my pimpin *snicker* 1990 cavalier , and I was just wondering what replacing them will do to improve the ride/performance/handling of my car?

As of right now, I get lots of lean in turns, plenty of jarring on speed bumps and a really loose bouncing on the freeway and at semi-high speeds (75+)

Thanks a lot...I'll be checkin the thread later today and tonight

Shocks and struts will improve the handling as far as bumps go. It should stop the bouncing effect as well as the jarring. It may slow the leaning in turns, however I do believe sway bars reduce body lean in turns. In a nut shell, shocks and struts are intended to keep the tires on the ground while going over any rough terrain so you have better control. ***starting to sound like a commercial*** . Hope this helps.

Semi High speeds 75+??? It maybe normal driving speeds but I would consider that high speed from your tires balance perspective. If you are getting road chatter, look closely at your tires. you will see the wear pattern as scallops out of the tread. If this has been going on for a while the tire is probably ruined.
Having your tires balanced and rotated can keep that problem down.

ya he's right 75+ speeds is not good for a cavalier but a sway bar maybe needed some of the leaning probs. but if you stick some new shocks and struts in there most problems should go away.

check your tires to he's right they probaly are ruined and need a rotating or new ones

Sway bars will help in cornering, but my car actually has very stiff coil springs and no sway bar and hardly sinks in the corners.

The loose bouncing on the freeway will be helped from the shocks/struts, leaning, prob not much since you still will compress the shock when in a turn. speed bumps....go slower
