just got a letter in the mail the other day. SBC is finally putting DSL in my area, so i'll be back and fragging ya'll in no time

BTW, got my GED test results back awhile ago, I passed it easily so I'm now a High School grad

My phone and cable company have both been saying the same thing for 2 years and I only got my cable around Christmas...hope you have better luck than I did.

Cable sucks ass. I have Cable and between the hours of 7 and 11:30 I can't get a ping of below 400. although I live in metro atlants you'd think they'd saw this coming. I hate you Charter and I'm coming for your head.

Glad you are getting DSL. Go with it. IT is a dedicated conection and not shared bandwith like cable.

Congrats on both items!

I have cable myself, and my ping is normally between 50-100 depending on the server. I live in Austin, and Time Warner has done a very good job in terms of planning here at least.

As for DSL, it is dedicated, but the speed is based on how far away you are from the nearest telephone relay (not sure relay is the right word, but it is close enough for government work). The farther the distance, the slower you go. And since everybody hits the relay, the pipe there will factor into your speed as well.

Not sure which is best overall, it will probably depend on where you live and who you have for companies. Good luck with whichever you choose.
