Hey guys I hope you can get TV4's access from the Ville's homepage working. It sure is a pain to go into the game listing in TFC to get hooked up on this great server.
Thanks

Greebo you can do that from The Ville home page??
Its not only connecting, its also seeing who is playing, what map, and what the scores are for estimate of time left.
Speaking about time left in game can the home page provide this also???

Thanks Robert

I have the ips of my favourite servers on post-its down the side of my monitor.
To connect I boot up TFC, click on console and type
"connect 66.35.137.251:27015"

for TV1

That is a good idea GREEBO I have only done it once but that would work great for getting into TV4.

You know you can set up a direct connect to each individual server. Just create a new shortcut to TFC and add this +connect 66.35.137.251 at the end. Here is an example of what your shortcut properties should look like:

I:SierraHalf-Lifehl.exe -game tfc -console -numericping -nojoy +connect 66.35.137.251

This will take you directly to TV 1. Just make a new shortcut and change the IP for each different server.

-nojoy means you have no joystick, so it frees up a wee bit more memory that was allocated for the joystick.

-numericping is used on your main TFC shortcut. It gives you your actual ping time to a server along with the the green or red lights in your server browser.

Here's something I figured out from somewhere...

If you look in your TFC folder there is a file called commandmenu.txt. This file controls what you see in the VGUI (where you can read MOTD, map rules, server rules, and use special skills for each class).

Here's a pic of what mine looks like, which makes it so that I can just switch servers right in the middle of a game at the click of a button.

Here's a link to the file, just right click and 'save as' to save it to disk instead of opening it through the browser.

http://cstone02.virtualave.net/upload/commandmenu.txt

Its basically the same as the default one, with all the numbers moved down one after 4. This might mess up some advanced scripts, but not likely. It can be edited using the instructions at the top of the file.

Cstone after I copy to disk I than go to commandmenu.txt and paste this into it?
I want to make sure before I do something I might regret.
Thanks

Well just to be on the safe side, copy your current commandmenu.txt and put it somewhere safe in its present state.

Then just overwrite the enire old file with the new one above. Its been working fine for me for a long time so you shouldn't have much to worry about.

Then if you ever want to go back to the old way for some reason, just restore the backup copy from where ever you stored it, and delete my version.
