Did any of you play TW2002? Or even better yet, do any of you STILL play? A friend of mine is trying to get a server back up and running, and if I could recruit some other players from here, it'd be pretty cool

The server is currently not working, but we're trying... if anyone has experience with hosting the game and would like to help, PM me and I'll pepper you with questions about it

Yeah, there are versions now that allow you to use telnet or you can also connect to a specific IP Address/port number. I'm not sure what kind of interface the IP address has, but the telnet is just like playing on the BBS.

BAHAHAHAHA! Wow, the system requirements for Trade Wars are pretty rough, I don't think I can meet them:
512K main memory
600K disk space
DOS 3.1 (3.3 or higher recommended, it's a good thing I have 4.0 somewhere)

I wonder if I'll have to get directX 8 to play it? LOL

Trade Wars was (about a decade ago) a cutting edge multiplayer universe where you trade stuff, get rich, buy big ships and a lot of fighers and cool other weaponry, and try to be the biggest, richest, most heavily armed person (or corporation) in the universe. It has fancy 16-color (not 16-bit) graphics, too! *ooooh, ahhhh*

I know there are some significantly more up to date versions, but the one we're playing with runs on a 486 with wildcat BBS and a 2400 baud modem It's up and working, now... at least for test purposes... we haven't been able to get the wanderers (a planet that just appears randomly) or the Borg loaded into the universe and working, though...

Scorched earth is the best old game ever. What's really fun to do is to dig the ground out from under an opponent and then shoot napalm all over them

I'm more partial to Lemmings myself.....at least when it comes to old school. That or the old Atari Empire Strikes back arcade game.
