There are a couple different ways to make really high jumps with each class in the game. The basic way this happens is to make something explode under you while you're jumping. For this purpose you can use rockets (Soldier), pipebombs (Demoman), conc grenades (Scout/Medic), and if you're really desperate, regular grenades, emp grenades, and even the classic "detdispenser jump" will get you where you need to go.
Conc grenades are the easiest way to launch yourself across the map. Read the thread linked above for all kinds of conc jumping tips.
For soldiers, run along as you normally would, then look down at the ground, jump, and shoot the rocket into the ground as you're jumping up in the air. The effect should send you flying. Experiment with different timing of the jump and shoot and you'll be able to adjust how high you go as well as how much life you lose. On a light jump I can stay 87/155 or so.
As for pipejumping, the effect is the same except you set up pipebombs in advance and det them as you're jumping over. You can lay up to three pipes and survive, but depending on the angle you launch at the landing might kill you with 3 pipes One or two pipes is a safe bet for the most part. |
