Ok, this stupid program installed when I installed some other software. I tried to go to my add/remove programs but its not listed. If I try and use thier uninstaller it say, go use your add/remove program. Im running win2k and dont know how to make it not start on startup. In win98 you type in msconfig but that doesnt work for win2k. How can I either get rid of this program or make it not start on startup under win2k?

For removing things from startup, you can open up regedit and do a search for "run." look thru what comes up in the folders. If it's something you don't recognize, you can usually delete it. NOTE: I said usually damnit, dont bitch if it screws up your comp. NOTE: Editing the registry is perfectly safe, I do it all the time-don't listen to what those pansies who are afraid of their computers say. There is no software issue that can't be fixed by formating your computer! Now hardware, that's a different story...
Oh, by the way, I ran ad-aware a few days ago and had 22-yes, that's right, 22 pieces of Gator shit installed!

Ad-ware from Lavasoft great for removing spy ware and its Free
For popups POW from AnalogX and other free one plus many other great utilities. All very small sizes but very powerfull.
As for W2K startup I don't think its any diff from NT or W98. Go to start select taskbar and start menu progs

Try the boot.ini file...
Or just download this file and place it in your main nt directory. Then type in the run window msconfig and you should be good to go....

I refuse to use Roger Wilco because they install that stupid gator shit without my consent. It is the most annoying crap out there. I always check for it and turn it off and then remove it. |

I found the Ad-ware program and installed it. I had 130 something items found. I got rid of all the gator programs. Can I get rid of all the others or do I have to pick and choose which ones I get rid of?? I wouldn't mind getting rid of all of them I just don't know if it will screw up my system of not. Plz let me know.

It should be safe to get rid of them all. The only things you might worry about, is if you have a firewall(I hope you do, but I forget the name), then one of the dlls in the windows directory gets flagged, or if you have norton cleansweep, the cleansweep dll gets flagged, don't delete those two.
