I wanted to know what bunny hopping was and whether it's against the rules. I jumped on a server (forgot which one) and it said that bunny hopping was not allowed. Anyone one know?

As far as I know bunny hopping is just jumping up and down while running or engaging the enemy. I dont have a problem with it, it does make some people hard to kill but thats life.

I'm not sure how bunny hopping works.. but I do know that it can produce some pretty unbalanced results. Far worse than just jumping up and down. Like a HWG/soldier speeding past you at the speed of a scout.

I have some demos here that show a bunny hopper in action, and damn does he go fast.

http://cstone02.virtualave.net/upload/bunny%20hopping.zip

Instructions for running TFC demos are included in the ZIP file... but basically just put all .dem files in your /tfc directory, and type the following in cosole: 'playdemo FILENAME' where FILENAME is, of course, the name of the .dem file.

I was lead to believe that bunny hopping was the act of jumping over and voer and crouching while you're in the air, therefore making you shorter and also further away from the ground, making you less succeptable to splash damage from grenades and rocket blasts.

I thought bunny hopping is when you jump crouch tap left then jump crouch tap right over and over again. As a engy I can run as fast as a scout whit this method.BTW nice demos.

I seem to recall that the last patch to TFC had a fix to take away some of the advantages of bunny hopping.

whoa slow down there.. Bunny Hopping is generally considered an exploit.. and a decent bunny hopper can severly unbalance the game, plus as JD said its gone in the next patch (well, the top speed will be reduced to about 140% of normal class speed). So no need to learn it really.

For all you wanna be hopper's out there, If you want to see or learn how to bunny hop, go d/l the map "mulch_dm" it is a 1v1 arena full of elite players.
The basic rundown of bhoppin:
1. Never ever use the forward key
2. Only use left and right strafe
3. When you hop, press either right/left strafe and move your mouse in the direction you hop
4. The way the gravity is set on tfc will enable you to move faster the more your away from the gound.
That's about all i've learned about bhopin, its very, very difficult to learn, i still havn't got it down.
but like everyone sayz, the new patch will stop it, so just don't worry about it
