I think this is going to be the end of Half-life and games that support mods.

I saw Robert's comment about no more FTP waits. However I think this is going to be a big bunch of ingame lag. If you a have modem(i don't thank god) well kiss your game play goodbye. Right now a normal game of TFC slows down when custom decals are being downloaded. Well Steam is going to do the same thing. That's just what I need during a heated battle, Real Media performance.

What about Valve injecting Ads into our game. Other streaming media company's do that. I can see it now, the red team captures the flag, and now a message from our sponsor.

Maybe I'm missing something...am I. Robert you seemed up beat in your blub, what are your thoughts?

Steam doesn't download stuff when you are playing the game. All it is, is an auto-updater, like before you play the game, not during. I've tested it, and it's awesome. There is an in-game messaging system, which also works out of game. Spectating mode is brand new, HLTV is better, but other then that, they didn't change tfc at all besides get rid of the bugs. Also, the incorporated anti-cheat software is working great.

Dahak pretty much covered it..

This will/should put an end to all of the cheating.

I heard the anit-cheat is good. Really good for respawn stuff. What about our scripts? Is that a done deal. Or what about the guys that have the feedrate and the pushlatency on toggle? In my case I use those and have the shadows and gibs turned off/and lowered.

Will the new software change that?

the scripts will still be allowed. Only stuff such as the timerefresh exploit will be taken out. You will still be able to modify your stuff .
