So here I am, spending a week in Toronto with...ugh...dad...
Let me tell you that Toronto, is not only the most boring city on the planet, but it is overrun with uptight suburban people. Usually uptight suburban people wouldn't piss me off, but these people try to force their morals on you! So here I was bored as hell in my dad's little apartment, so we thought we would go to see the movie We were soldiers. So we go to the theater, and look at the showtimes and we see that the next show is at 4:30, it was 4:10 at the time, so we go into the theater and ask for two tickets to we were soldiers. So then the cashier-person says I'm sorry but the next show isn't until 7:00. So I tell her that it said there was a show at 4:30 outside. "I'm sorry sir but the next show isn't until 7:00." Fine, so we decide to go see the movie blade 2, which starts in 30 minutes. So get this? this stupid biatch says "i'm sorry but the movie is rated R, so you can't see it." So i'm like, "well my dad is over 18, he is allowing me to see the movie." I'm sorry, but all people under 18 may not see R rated movies, whether or not an adult is with them"
So now i'm pretty pissed I mean, what the hell type of law is that?!? That's total bullshit!
I hope none of you have ever been forced to stay in this horrible uptight city, and if you have, I feel sorry for you. If you want to really know what Toronto is like, find 4 million amish people, and give them cars, and nice suburban houses.
Anyways my rant is over. Now I will insert my 8 year old doom diskette, and hope that this ghetto computer can run the game, without overheating. |

Did you know that "We Were Soldiers" is rated "R" also.
Looks like you are going to have to wait for that too.
The question is are you old enough to play doom???
Life sucks for the young! |

Here in Texas you can go see a rated R film if you are with your parents, but not with any other adult. But speaking as an adult I do appreciate there not being kids in the theater, even that never happens. If you have read some of my movie rants, then you know I have been to rated R movies taht there were little kids and babies in there that totally ruined the movie. |

Well, I took my son and two of his friends to see Resident Evil. I had no intention of staying because at the time I had other things to do, though I do intend to see the movie. The woman in line in front of me wanted to buy 4 tickets for her kids for that flick and a different one for herself. They would not allow it, because, she was told, she had to go in with them.
I bought 3 tickets; my son et al. were standing elsewhere. I took the tickets to them and told them I would wait for a bit in case they got kicked out. They did not. He and his friends are 15. I think they figured that if the tickets were sold to them they were old enough to be in there.
In one sense it angers me that I apparently cannot be trusted to determine what my son is capable of handling. But in another, I know there are MANY parents who offer their children no guidance in life. So, I understand the rule. But to not let you see it with a parent seems nuts to me.

OBH I agree that a parent should decide how to raise a child. And I would definetly say that a well raised teenager can understand and handle a rated R movie. Not that I am trying to say how a child should be raised, but I have a problem with parents who bring little kids into a rated R movie. I mean some movies today offend me and I am 23. Not to say that I don't laugh at those gross offense jokes, but that is because I was raised quote unquote correctly to understand those things. Most little childern lose their concentration when they don't understand what is going on in a movie so they becoming disruptive.
So my point was that as an adult trying to enjoy a very overly priced movie, that I do not want any disruptions other than emergency type disruptions. I take that back some of the movies I had been to lately that had teenagers in them by themselves did not behave correctly, but I think it was movie that was rated to let them in.
Another point of view would be that the movie theater industry being a private businesses should be allowed to make such rules to deliver their product in the best environment that their customers want to view a movie in. |

Thats why I wait for the flick to come out on DVD and watch it at home. No screeming kids or RUDE ADULTS talking away. I just put on my headphones and there it is. Yes I miss the really big screen but oh well. Another thing is that if the movie just sucks I don't feel bad about just turning it off and moving on. It really sucks to walk out of a movie you just paid $10.00 to see.

Well I for one dont see a problem if the adult is with them. In america from what I thought I understood is that R you need an adult with you and NC-17 is no one under that age period. I grew up watching movies that were rated R and Im not Psycho or emotionally unstable.*insert nervous twitch here* Besides who is going to stop them from going home and watching it on cable or satelite anyways?
