So some skilled nazi sniper has been firing lead upside your friends’ head eh? The first thing that you are going to want to do is find a good sniping spot. The ideal sniping spot is dark and has lots of cover, unfortunately, not all sniping spots are ideal, but try to find a spot that you can get to without having to run in front of the enemies’ line of fire.

In tfc, all you had to do to snipe, was hide behind a wall, charge up your rifle, jump out, and let go of the trigger. It’s not that simple in DoD, you need to use stealth. For example, your sniping spot is the window of a building. If the enemy sniper has half a brain, the last thing you should do is move close to the window. Why? Your sniper rifle is really big, and it will stick out of the window! This is a dead giveaway!! Try to stay as far back as possible, while trying to keep a good view of the battlefield, and where you believe the enemy sniper is. Once you have finished setting up your sniping spot, you have to play the waiting game.

If you want to stay stealthy, do not fire at enemy soldiers, as the enemy sniper will probably begin to search for you. Begin searching every possible sniping spot that the enemy could be hiding. When you search, make sure that you do not “jerk” your mouse around, this is incredibly important if you are prone, as your body will spin around, and will probably get the attention of the enemy sniper. Move your mouse calmly, and try to walk as little as possible. If you do find the enemy sniper, make sure it really is an enemy sniper, and not a friendly or just a chair or something. Once you are sure that it is the enemy, or if it looks like he is looking at you, shoot him. Simple as that.

If you can’t find the enemy sniper, it’s time to play a little game of “look for the muzzle flash.” Slowly scan over the map, and look for any flash of light, that could indicate an enemy sniper. If you still can’t find the enemy sniper, either
a) he is the king of stealth
b) You are blind, and stupid
c) The enemy is not in your field of vision

If he is the king of stealth, you might want to go on a kamikaze mission to try to discover his location.

If you are blind and stupid, place a pistol between your lips and pull the trigger

If the enemy is not in your field of vision you can either
a) Say “F*ck the enemy sniper” and just snipe enemy soldiers as they run by, or
b) Go to another sniping location and look for the enemy there.

Feel free to add your own tactics, I’ll add some more later.

P.S. I didn’t bother rereading or correcting any of this stuff, so it might not make too much sense

one tactic which is extremely useful is when you are sniping, find a spot where enemy snipers usually sit ( usually only works in small to medium sized games..8-14 ppl ). by doing this, you can shoot the enemies in the back as they run past you. this will confuse most people for a while. eventually you will be found, but you can inflict severe casualties on the enemy if you are good.

It is also important to let your team know what you are doing, so they dont shoot you thinking you are an NME. Also tell them if the area you are sniping is clear. this way they can move up and get better positions on the map. if also helps to tell them if you miss any NME's, so they know what is coming their way.

Just thought i would share some info that i have found...this tactic works very well on maps with a good choke, such as heutau and caen2..

but it is good on maps with several ways to go, if you use it wisely.

Pas, What if sniper is setup in your base , moves from place to place, and is never seen? Then when u walk outa spawn you get tagged 4 times. Then he retreats and gets u coming up another way when u think the area is clear. Then he lets u go by and shoots you in the back. Now that your completely paranoid he hides and waits for u to finally go to your normal sniping spot. There when your setup looking for him he stabs u in the back.
