A friend of mine just sent me a list of songs that Clearchannel, who runs most all radio staions, released to stations. It is a list of about 200 songs that are now banned because of the 9.11 attack. There are soooo many classics on it I was shocked. Even Elvis was not spared. More bands with songs banned were the Beatles, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Limp Bizkit, Korn, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Alanis Morissette, U2, ALL Rage Against The Machine songs. I have the entire list that is 3 pages long...If you want it I could post it on a page to see and link to it.

I think they've gone Mad!

Heres a link.
They are not Banned it is a reference list of songs that reference some type of well.. heres a quote,

"They're on a list of 150 songs that has been circulating on the Internet and among radio program directors, ostensibly because Clear Channel, the nation's largest radio station owner, banned the songs because of incendiary, violent, or insensitive lyrics in the wake of last week's terrorist attacks.

The San Antonio-based corporation, which broadcasts over 1,170 stations to an estimated 110 million listeners in all 50 states, has been flooded with inquiries about the list. The company has issued a disclaimer, stating the list was compiled by one of its programmers and that it should serve only as a recommendation. ''This is not a mandate,'' said the statement. ''Nor was it generated by the Clear Channel corporate offices"

It goes on and gets better, black list is mentioned.
Hardly anyone is taking the list to heart.
Louis Armstrong is on it for, What a wonderful world.
Goes to show you when a company get so big the mistakes it makes are big ones.

they are one of the major radio stations owners... Chances are they own about half the stations you listen to and half the ones you don't

Knowing that Clearcommunication owns the EDGE a local modern rock station ( LB I believe you know this little station) it would not surprise me that they would do something stupid. Most of their stations like the EDGE are those that play about the same 10-20 songs ever hour over and over again. Thats why I am going to check this XM thing out to see if these hipocrite environment can be change when the listener pays for the service and thus affects the rating of a radio station more directly instead of that boogis ratings system that radio and tv both use. Its like taking a politcal poll of 1,000 people of like taste and beliefs i mean come on.

This is very alarming! Could this be the beginning of Big Brother cracking down upon
us in the shadow of Sept 11 attack. I wonder what is next?

What Louis Armstrong, Frank Sintra give me a break. And AC/DC Dirt Deeds NNNNNNOOOOOO.Dirty Deeds done dirt cheap, Dirt deeds done dirt cheap Yyyyyeeeaaaahhh!
What this. Alien Ant Farm's Smooth Criminal, why isn't the orginal Michael Jackson version on this list. I think that shows the folly of this list. Thats it I must email to my breathen GOPers in D.C. to get this changed, not that I listen to the EDGE and the EAGLE that much anymore, but this is to far.

Umm what kinda horse bleep list is this? I sorta expected the Rage songs not to be played for obvious reasons. I 100% disagree with this corp doing this. The Rage stuff yeah I could understand for awhile, some of the hippie anti US stuff...maybe. The rest of these songs? HAHAHAHA, what a G'damn joke. This probably would've crippled RATM if Zack didn't leave anyway. I don't even see the direct corralation between 90% of the songs and what happened. This is one large company being stupid not the govt. BTW sounds familiar to the corp in Florida that suspended people for having US flags in their cubes. Anyone remember which company that was?

I was a radio major at Columbia College in Chicago and this doesn't surprise me at all. You'd think of music as entertainment, right? Wrong, it's treated more so like a business than ever before. I can literally give everyone info how each radio station works. Target audiences, Sampling the usual songs, dumb promotions etc etc. It's really insane. That's why I listen to CD's and not the radio except to hear new songs in the rotation every month or so.

Hey if we are going back to Disco...
I better go steal my dad's Saturday Night Fever and Grease albums since next they'll ban CD's! Woot where's my Bellbottoms and White Disco Suit? Damn I'll have to grow a big curly fro too! I can see it now..."car wash now..."

Parody of Clear Channels new hard rock format

DJ: 107.5 KSXR (the suxor) With the hardest rock allowed by our corporation in LA. You just heard "Car Wash" by Rose Royce. That was back in 1977. Before that you heard Chicago's "If you leave me now." In the next set of hard rock music you supposed to hear Rush, Pearl Jam, The Doors, The Beatles, and AC/DC. But, we have some GREAT ROCKIN' tunes to replace those bands on the banned list. You'll instead hear from Helen Reddy, Donna Summer, The Bee-Gees, Britney Spears, and our featured artist...Celine F'n Dion!

cue out to a commercial...

Frag takes a time out to go throw up his lunch at the prospect of hearing ANY Celine Dion's love ballads.

Hehehe Frag don't forget to get the shoes with the goldfish in the heels. I wish we could doctor the TFC players. we could get you to play Spy with an afro. That would be killer. Like you I make my own CDs and buy them to and listen to talk radio now days. One station though I like that is not subject to this hanis crap is Texas Christian University's Radio station The Choice 88.7 FM. They are only in the Tarrant County are of Texas but you can listen to it on the web http://www.tcu.edu. They play music of local and no name bands that rock out and have not been tampered with or tainted by the music industry yet.

Im sorry, but I dont really like any of the Rage, Korn, or Bizkit(or however the hell they spell it)songs. Im glad that they get less play. But WTF???, U2, Beatles, Elvis, Morisette??? These are real songs, about real issues(usually). These guys are some of the least offensive artists out there, and they're banning them??? This is insane!
We have the right to those songs, even though I dont know what they are. Could you tell me which of these songs were banned please?
Again, Im sorry if I have offended you about not liking korn and the others. Im apologizing beforehand, before another politics bout errupts.

Heh, a handful of those songs were even performed at that all-star benefit thing . . . Imagine, Bridge over Troubled Water. I wonder how many viewers were traumatized and offended by those songs. Zero, maybe? I was much more disturbed by Celine Dion's skeletal appearance. Celine is so skinny that she has ceased to exist in three dimensions. Celine makes Calista Flockhart look like Paul Prudhomme. Watching Celine makes me want to tie my girlfriend up and force feed her millions of cupcakes. Not that I wouldn't want to do that anyway.
