There are still certain games who still have a cult following years later. People will still play them for playablity.

Here's a few

Earl Weaver Baseball, AMIGA 1988 - People still play this game today for the way you could edit, sim, and manage this baseball game like no other. No recent game has come close with the exception of the High Heat series.

Meridian 59, PC 1996 - Ask SilverOne about this one. This was the first MP game online. Hack, slash, kill, and guild. This game maintained such a following that people ran their own servers to keep this game alive. The creators of Meridian 59 are re-releasing this game in it's original form in the summer. A 3D game with great playability. It also has the small sense of community witha limit of 100 players per server.

Jack Nicklaus Golden Bear Challenge, PC 1999 - This PC golf game started back in the early 90's and ended with the 6th game called BGC. I still play this golf game over Tiger Woods, Links, and PGA. JN Golf has thousands of courses and almost every last real course (I have 40 of the real ones) you can find on the PGA tour. On a side note. Tiger Woods 02 is really good, put needs some work on the putting and old TW courses to convert to 02.

Half-Life, PC 1999 - This game is three years going. Numerous mods have come out for this game. TFC still runs over 1,500 servers as of today. This game still has years left for the way it does play. Nice graphics, simple, and easy to run. The best team combat game out there. Any mod you think of will be or has been done.

What other games are still going? Input, please.

That's why I want your input. Those four are the ones I know.

I will second this one. A lot of the students I teach still play some version of Tetris, and it has been converted to a shockwave game that appears on some websites.

I have also downloaded this game into my TI86 graphing calculator so I can play it while my algebra students are taking a quiz.

Super Mario Brothers, The Legend of Zelda, Contra, Punch Out, Dr. Mario, Final Fantasy, all for NES.

Asteroids, Space Invaders, Pong, Mario Brothers, Donkey Kong, any of the Star Wars games, all for Atari/Coleco/JCPenny knock offs, or the ROMs.

Dark Forces 2, Jedi Knight. Been around since 97 and still plays well, one of the cooler online games from an era when everyone was playing Doom or Quake.

Have any of you played Strike Gunner? Is a jet fighter game for SNES and my friends still like to play it. I find myself replaying FF7 (best game ever made, sorry Halflife) and some of the Might and Magic series.
