hey guys what do i need to buy to be able to talk with voice command,do i need a new sound card i got a sound blaster live...

I've used it before for mic comms, but my mic is bust (or the card is) right now

Anyhoo - plug a mic into the 3rd hole from the joystick thing.
That should be yer mic slot

I also have the SB Live. Worked good yesterday. I went to Walmart and bought the Plantronics LS1 headset. ($27) they had a cheaper model but it was mono and stereo is a must because the sounds are all directional. I dont know how the mic quality is but people did say they could hear me. This unit also has an inline volume control and a mic mute switch.
As Mr. Greebo stated 3rd port is mic. The ports would be Joystick, Output #2, Output #1, Mic,?cant remember ,and then the Digital Audio port (yellow). I used Output #1 and Mic port and it seemed fine. With 2 output ports you might be able to have both the Speakers and the headsets working, but for me I like playing with the headset only.

After you get your mic up and working,go to your halflife folder and open the voice_tweak utility. This helps getting your mic levels correct for in game use.
