I've done everything I know to boost my FPS but I can't seem to get more than 40 with an average of 25-30. I lowered my screen res from 1680x1050 to 1280x768 hoping that would help. I've got all of my detail settings set to the lowest possible. My vid card is a Radeon Atlantis 9800 (256mb). HELP!

Read that post then click back to the first post - basically there seems to be some issue with intel processors and source....maybe.

Anyway, I usually get 30fps on a 1.3 (Pentium-M), 1/2 gig ram and a 6600 nvidia (laptop thing)

I have an AMD 2800+ and a 7800GSoc and still have the same problem.

Same here, but I don't really notice any lag or anything. 30 FPS is good enough for me.

Source is very processor heavy and your processor isn't too good. I'm not sure, but your graphics card might be bottlenecked by your processor too.

I have a Pentium D, 2Gb RAM and a crappy GeForce 7300 but I get 50fps-70fps. Turning off HDR helped and setting the card to the native mode of the LCD monitor also helped. (Goes >100fps when I look at the sky.. )

I know this may be of no use but, I have the same specs comp wise as Stevo and usually run between 60-89 fps.

To achieve that, I had to go into the comps bios and up the amount of memory used for agp graphics. Since the video card carries 256 mb of memory, I alloted 128 mb for system memory. The rule of thumb for that particular tweak was half the memory of the card.

Let me dig around and I'll find the link to the tweak guide.

I went into my bios and switched it from 64 to 256 and my FPS went up an extra 10fps. Thanks for that tip!

I thought a 2800+ barton was a fair cpu. I also have a 2600+ throughbred in my box-o-parts. Would that be any better ??
I went into the bios and made sure the 8x was enabled, set my memory up to max and made it all cashable. Nothing changed. Nothing changes no matter what I do, HDR, graphics settings, screen res., its still the same...... looks great low fps. When I run and look down I get about 60+fps. The 5700fx that I had before would hit 90-100+fps when I ran and looked down. (same cpu)

I did notic that I have no lag till the server gets 16 or more peeps on. Then my fps starts to drop below 20 in combat. Think

I don't know if this still applies, but check your video card settings for v-sync or verticle refresh and make sure it is off.

The reason for that is your old card was running DX8 and possibly on lower graphics settings. I'm as confused as you are as to why changing your settings on your current setup did nothing.

Ok guys, i did some diggin and talked to BFG tech support. May have found a few things to help us all.

1: make sure you are usind DX9.0c Not A OR B

2: he asked me to make sure my amp. output on the +12v is 20 to 24amp

3: ask me to run a benchmark "Aquamark" and take notes if it will not make it all the way through.

While looking for the Aquamark I found this web site "http://www.guru3d.com/". This site is full of tips, tweaks, drivers, just all kinds of fun stuff. I also found "Nvidia ntune". This program has an auto oc feature that will set up your pc and vc to max preformance.
( Rob I bet Raedon has somethng out there like it. )
Hope to start playing with this stuff after work, will give ya'll an update then. Wish me luck

Another thing nVidia users can do is try the overclock utility from nVidia...
called nvtweak.reg

It's a registry add on that gives you an additional option in your nVidia set up section. Be careful as it can do potential damage! It has an autodetect button to determine the best settings to overclock the GPU.

It changed my core clock frequency from 400MHz to 506 MHz and the memory clock frequency from 680MHz to 860MHz.
Card now runs at 75°C instead of 60°C when DoD:S is running.

Sorry Rob, doesn't help you...

I tried what Mad-Hammer did and increased the AGP aperture size and now I average around 50 FPS. Thanks Hamster!
