Only do this if you're comfortable changing your config.cfg settings!!
Usually it's found under C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\LOGIN\day of defeat source\dod\cfg.
Otherwise leave alone!

After the update, there were some new settings that bugged people. As soon as you clicked them to turn them off, they were back on again! Here's how to turn them off...

cl_enabledeathfilmgrain 0 <-- To disable the film Grain.

r_worldlights 0 <-- To disable the Shiny Models.

hud_classautokill 0 <-- To disable the killing while selecting class.

hope this helps!

Another one: (from DoD forums)

Bind a key to mute the victory music:

bind "key" "play 0.mp3"

Plays a non-existent file so kills all other music i.e.. the victory music.

Cool. That music is so damn loud and annoying....

If you set your config to read-only, then wouldn't that prevent you from changing settings in the game? Maybe you can put the settings in a seperate file such as userconfig.cfg and then add "exec userconfig.cfg" in config.cfg or in the startup options. That way, only the settings you want to keep will stick while the game can still change other settings.

Actually, a better method that I forgot about is to just make a file named autoexec.cfg in the cfg folder and put the commands in there. The game automatically executes anything in that file when it starts.

you have to add it...but do what Stevo suggested ^^^^^^^^ because stoopid DoD:S will erase it from the config.cfg

create a new file with notepad called autoexec.cfg
and add those settings above....
