Hey all,

I have a little question for all the "pro" in computer!!!

I recently bought a new monitor!!!

This one!

It is a LG L1970HR!!!

Display Type: LCD 19inch
Resolution: 1280 x 1024
Ultra High Contrast Ratio: 1600:1
High Brightness: 300cd/m2
Lightening Fast Response Time: 2ms
Viewing Angle: H:160, V:160
Video Signal Input Connector: 15Pin D-Sub, DVI (Digital & Analog)

Seems to be a quite good monitor!!! Games and static picture look great on it!!! However, here is my problem, the picture quality isn't very good when I watch a DVD on it!!!

Yesterday, I tried to watch "Finding Nemo" on my computer (just to see the image quality of my new LCD monitor ), and as said previously, I was considerably deceived!!! (Image was kind of blurry!!!) I tried a lot of thing to solve the problem but the resolution was still crappy!!

I have a DVI cable, I'm using power DVD as DVD player (which I think is one of the best DVD player), I have a good video card (X800XT platinum), and this is a commercial DVD (not a DVD that I pick in a dark corner of the net ).

I saw this afternoon when searching on the net for solving my problem that DVD resolution (DVD that you buy or rent) are only 720X480. I know that LCD doesn't give very good picture quality when used in resolution other than their native resolution (which is 1280X1024 here). Could that be my problem??? If it is the case, every LCD monitor(at least every LCD displaying at larger resolution than 720X480) should suck at playing DVD because they would have to "stretch" the image to play full screen. And If yes, I don't understand why some people are claming that they have crystal clear image when watching a DVD on their LCD. Are they liar or do im missing something???

Any comment or suggestion!!!

Thx

If you're watching it in full screen or its playing in a bigger res, that's your problem.

I guess it would be limited by the DVD image resolution.
