Well after a lbrs run in which i got my first char to 60. My computer congradulated me when i went back to Org with smoke coming form the back of it and the power button. (Alienware m7700 laptop) so yeah freaked out turned it off and opened it up....

Sorry about the pics being blurry it came from my only digicam, my phone. But yeah where the power comes in from the cord there is a little chip off the mobo that is surrounded by burn marks and at the tip its all white. fried. However, It will let me run off the battery and will let me charge it sometimes. However when i run it while charging, it will get really hot, both the battery and the back of my computer. Called up alienware, my warrenty ended 2 months ago. and it will be $600 to fix (250 to ship 120 for labor and the rest for the mobo) Being jobless makes this sum of money hard to get, therefore i'm stuck with a $3000 brick. And I'm lost lol.

Idk why i typed all this stuff out just venting frustration i guess. but yeah so thats where i've been lately btw

Yeah I agree. I don't think it's supposed to do that.

That sucks Chan. Perhaps you can find one on Ebay, or at least the board that contains the cooked chip?

Just a thought....

just buy one of those cooling pads that you put a laptop on to keep it from overheating. Heh the one I rented from my college for the length of my course was a horrid model. They broke down so much and had so many defects it was nasty. I had my motherboard fry twice and my screen actually melt once which was horrifying cause I'd acidentaly left it on in my backpack for an hour.

Btw you can get those cooling pads for about 30-50 bucks at your local Staples : The Business Depot store
