alrighty, I want some new ideas, and sandbag's ville recipe posting is great. And then the BBQ thread was great too..
Florentine Beef Casserole:
1 lb. ground beef
1 med. onion chopped
1/4 lb. mushrooms (sliced)
1 clove garlic minced
1tsp. oregano leaves
1T. olive oil
1tsp. salt 1/4 tsp pepper
1T. flour
1 cup beef broth
1 cup sour cream
1 pkg (10 oz.) chopped spinach
4 oz. mozzarella or jack cheese
1) Brown meat, onion, mushrooms, garlic, & oregano in oil. Add salt & pepper.
2)Add broth, cook until thickened. Stir in sour cream. Add drained spinach.
Put meat mixture into 11/2 qt. casserole dish. Cut cheese into strips & place on top of meat, criss crossing the strips.
3) Bake at 350 for 15 to 20 min.
Serve w/salad, rice, & bread.
Anyone have any recipes to share? _________________

Kuro's Goes with everything spaghetti sauce (not kidding it goes with pasta, potatoes, rice, toast etc etc)
1-2lbs of ground beef
1 can of mushrooms
1 can of stewed tomatoes
1 medium onion
garlic salt
pepper
montreal steak spice
lea and perrins sauce
bbq sauce
ketchup
a squirt of pancake syrup
3-6 drops of tabasco sauce
Now first i would like to warn that other than the canned goods and the meat everything else i add to taste basically.
Brown the meat over medium heat and drain. Roughly chop and add the onion. Cook for a few minutes then add the can of mushrooms and stewed tomatoes.
Next comes the tricky part so I'll describe as accurately as possible.
Add 2-3 long squirts of ketchup or about 2 cups. Then pour in about a cup of bbq sauce. I prefer extra flavored than regular like honey garlic or hickory. Stir the whole mess.
Add to that garlic salt and pepper (roughly a tablespoon worth) then about 2 tbs of montreal steak spice and a tbs of lea and perrins.
After letting it bubble over medium low heat for a bit add about a teaspoon of pancake syrup. I know it doesnt seem like much but it doesnt take much to sweeten the whole thing up. Then finally a few shakes of tabasco sauce if your like me and like a little kick to your food.
Add it to pasta, potatoes etc etc
Not an exact recipe as it changes slightly from time to time but def my favorite. _________________

Wheaten Bread
3 cups of wholemeal flour
1 cup of all purpose flour
½ cup of rolled oats (porridge oats)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp baking powder
2 cups of buttermilk
Sieve flour, salt, sugar and baking powder into a large bowl.
Add the rolled oats.
Now get ready - once you add the buttermilk, you have to get it into the oven quickly! So just before you do that, prepare a baking tray with a floured sheet of aluminum foil. Turn on the oven to 220°C (420°F).
So have you done all that? Oven ready? OK, slowly add the buttermilk. Just stir it in to form a thick dough. Stir and knead very lightly. Just make sure that you get all the flour. Place the dough on the baking sheet in the shape of a large round loaf. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a skewer place inside the bread comes out dry (not sticky).
Wrap in a tea towel to keep it from going hard at the crusts! After it cools, slice thinly!
Really easy bread to make and it's quick too...Eat with lots of butter...or soup! _________________
