Ok i was told something tonite that didnt quiet make sense but i didnt say anything in the game.
On avanti when on the defending team. When the match first starts out the gates separate the teams correct?Ok my question why cant i set a detpack in the area (mind you not directly on the gate) in front or to the side of the gate? I was told it is because when detonated it kills players coming outta respawn. Now with that said the VERY next match starting me being on the attacking team 5 of our players was killed before the gates were even opened by a detpack. It wouldnt have been so bad but the one that set the detpack is the one that told me not to be setting detpacks in the very same spot he did.Ironic? I dont know how to handle stuff like this so i wont post his name mainly because he will know who he is IF he reads this post an he is in TVB.If there is a certain rule we need to follow as to where an where not to set detpacks i think i need to know to keep from doing it again or to keep from stirring an argument up in the middle of a game cause someone else did it.Sorry about this.

I think you are able to set the detpacks there. I mean if it is ok for the Spam Kings to do so, then it should be aloud for everybody else. I think it goes with the thought of throwing nades or shooting into respawn. Correct me if I am wrong but that is considered legal. So as long as the detpack is outside respawn then it should not matter. What bugs me is when a detpack is laid in front of CP2 with a timer and CP2 then becomes the respawn and the detpack goes off killing people in respawn. That to me is a very fine line, especially when it is obvious that the intent was to kill people when the respawn moved.

Then why would this person get mad if i set one there?Ive done it like tons of times an with a server full of admins an ive even seen admins doing it? Why me this one time? I had lobbed a couple Pipebombs down there as i was jumping over the wall at the gates but the intent was to hit the hwguy standing just below me an not for them togo into respawn when confronted i appologized quickly an told them it wouldnt happen again, and it didnt,an wont.

You might be referring to me. I do all the time and there is no rule against it. Who complained? It gives you an audible warning a second or two before it detonates. You didn't do anything wrong. I do it at the gates, but I don't set one at any other respawn point. They should know it is going to happen. I have been a victim of a detpack at the gate and I have been a victim of grenades and pipes over the building before the gates open. You didn't need to apologize to them.

Ok Tommy. I don't remember Bada teaching me, but I will let him take credit. When you see the counter say "10 seconds before the gate opens" thing, count to five and set a 5 second detpack. Or, you can set a 20 second one right at the 10 second mark. Just bind a key to +det20. I also set them between cap 1 and cap 2 on the ground. That is kind of difficult if they have many HWs and soldiers. I usually set a 20 second one, so I can get out of dodge without killing myself. I also set one at cap 3, when they are going for the church. Set it either right below the cap point or up on the ledge where people build sentries alot. I only set a 5 second one there because, I have set a 20 before and then they cap and my detpack goes off when they are respwaning to play defense. I felt kind of bad, so I don't do a 20 anymore. Those are the 3 places I set them 90% of the time. If I am poisoned and we have no medic I will place one randomly and not respawn back until it goes off. You might kill yourself alot of times through mirror damage though. Be careful. You have now been trained in the art of detpacking.

You know, I am not sure. I do know of the 5, 20,and 50. I have been told you can put one with 9999 down and it never goes off. Maybe it used to freak the other team out. I have seen people use the 9999 one to keep a door from opening, which is pretty pathetic. I would have to research the odd settings more. I have tried 30 and I couldn't get it to set.

I am all for detpacking by the gate but it has always raised a question with me. Why is it that this is the only respawn you are allowed to spam? Why is this one so special it can be spammed?

I read this again and realized it does not include detpacks. It's from the server rules:
Quote: | When the attacking team is trying to capture points one and two the respawn areas are essentially the same. The only thing we allow in this respawn area that we do not allow in any of the others is grenade or pipebomb spamming before and after the gates open. |

The spamming of respawn 1 & 2 is probably allowed because they are really the only respawns where people attack out of them. Are you supposed to let a soldier stand in respawn and destroy your sg perched atop cp2? I think not. As a sniper I enjoy dodging pipe bombs, then killing the demo. Its much more exciting than sniping sg's on cp2.
