Plane skids off runway =(

^ for those of you that havent heard a plane slid off a runway at chicago's midway airport... last tally was 1 dead and 11 injured... all passengers on the plane are safe, it was a passenger in a car that was killed...

to be honest, this could have been much much worse...

that happened at Toronto airport this summer too!! Fortunately nobody was killed. The plane finally stopped in an airport ditch, but was really close to going across our major highway!
I hate it when stuff like that happens, BUT it is good for us to be reminded to live life to the fullest, never knowing what could happen.

Midway Airport has very short runways for a midsize airport. The airport is in a residential neighborhood and has very little margin for error. From what I've read, the reverse thrusters did not kick in when it was supposed to. Either way, I'll fly in and out of O'Hare any day of the week over Midway.
