i did something really stupid with out knowing

ok i deleted a txt doc with out knowing... well ... yeah pretty much thats it.. i didnt know i deleted it till clicked on the shortcut on my desktop and it siad it couldnt find the file.. its not in the recycle bin because i emptied it... ok.. i know when you delete something from your comp... its still on your harddrive and your comp just ignores it till it over writes it and then its gone forever.. but is there any one to retrieve it? any one out there know how? with out me going to a store or tech guy... and paying for it?

btw.. the file had phone numbers, email addresses, home addresses, and other important contact info of every one i know....

ive seen ads for programs that restore files deleted from the recycle bin.
